Movie Night: Trivia & Songs
Family film quiz & soundtracks
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
New: Which Came First is its own game, and setup can remember your usual players and questions. Plus Who Made It, Trivia Mix, Name That Soundtrack and Your Music.
Put on a movie night where everyone plays.
Movie Night is five party games for the whole family, run from one phone: Who Made It, Which Came First, Trivia Mix, Name That Soundtrack, and Your Music. Name That Soundtrack is the Apple Music bonus: it plays full songs through your own Apple Music subscription, and needs one to play. Your Music deals from your own Apple Music library. The three trivia games work without either.
Nobody needs a device of their own. The host reads the question or plays the clip, the room shouts the answer, and the host taps who got it first. Or everyone grabs an iPhone or iPad and buzzes in. Or pass one phone around and tap your answer.
WHO MADE IT
Name the director, the cast, or the composer. Choose TV shows too, and name who created a show and who starred in it. When there is a photo of the person, it starts as a blur and sharpens with every hint, then shows clearly on the reveal.
WHICH CAME FIRST
Two titles, one question: which came out first? Play movies, TV shows or both, and every pair is two movies or two shows. It's in Trivia Mix too.
TRIVIA MIX
Every kind of question in one game, and you pick which ones. Who directed it, who played the part, who wrote the score, and which one came out first. Name a movie from a poster that sharpens with every hint. Name a TV show from its art, or say which show premiered first. Tell a famous line's movie, or catch the misquote everybody gets wrong. Every quote is checked word for word against the film itself.
NAME THAT SOUNDTRACK
A famous theme or song plays for three seconds. Know it? Shout it. Stuck? Each hint picks up right where the last one stopped, so you hear more of the music and the answer is worth a little less. Play it through the phone or any speaker in the room.
YOUR MUSIC
Play DJ with your own Apple Music library. Pick a playlist, an album or songs one by one, or let the game choose from the songs you play most or shuffle your library. Then name the song from a clip, or name the album from its cover as it gets sharper. It is your music, so you are the judge. Song rounds play through your Apple Music subscription.
BUZZ IN FROM YOUR OWN PHONE
Choose Phones buzz in, and everyone with Movie Night on their iPhone or iPad joins the game with their own name and gets a big BUZZ button. Join before the game starts or halfway through. The first buzz pauses the music, and the host is still the judge. Only the host needs Apple Music, and the phones find each other over the Wi-Fi in the room, with no accounts.
PASS AND PLAY
One phone goes around the room. It says whose turn it is and shows the question, and each player taps their answer. The game keeps the score, so nobody has to be the judge.
PICK YOUR GENRES
Choose Comedy, Horror or any mix before you start, right beside the era and the highest rating. Setup shows how many questions your choice leaves.
MADE FOR THE ROOM YOU'RE IN
• Pick the era: the movies the kids grew up on, the ones the parents did, or forty years of both
• Play movies, TV shows or both, and TV ratings follow the same G, PG or PG-13 limit
• Set the highest rating to G, PG or PG-13, and every clip, question and quote stays within it, in every game but Your Music
• Hints cost a point, so everybody has a way in
• Setup starts with nothing ticked, or save your usual players and questions as defaults and it opens with them ticked
• Game Nights keeps a leaderboard across every game you play, and remembers which game each night was
• The Library lists every clip and who has guessed it
Free, with no ads, no accounts and nothing collected. Your players and scores stay on your own devices.

Ratings & Reviews
Setup now starts empty, and it can remember your family.
• Nobody is ticked when a setup screen opens, so you pick who's playing tonight instead of unticking who isn't. In Who Made It and Trivia Mix, the question kinds start unticked too. Start waits until you've picked enough, and the line under it says what's still needed.
• Save as my defaults: if you play the same way every week, tap it under Start. Every setup then opens with your players ticked, and Who Made It and Trivia Mix each remember their questions. Clear defaults forgets them.
• Which Came First is now a game of its own on Home: two titles, one question, which came out first? It has only one kind of question, so its setup skips the question picker. It's still in Trivia Mix too.
