Changing your default browser on a Mac is a scavenger hunt: open System Settings, squint at the search field, find the one dropdown that matters, do it again tomorrow. You've done it a hundred times. You'll do it a hundred more. Or you could click once. Up there. In the menu bar. Where it should have been all along. BrowserSwap is a tiny menu bar app that switches your default browser instantly. That's it. That's the app. No onboarding carousel, no account, no "welcome to your journey." Just a menu. ONE CLICK. NOT SEVEN. Open the menu, pick a browser, done. Links now open where you told them to. Your first ten browsers get ⌘1 through ⌘0, because if you're going to have a browser problem, you may as well have a fast one. IT FINDS YOUR BROWSERS BY ITSELF BrowserSwap scans for every real browser you've installed and lists them with their icons. Note the word "real" — apps that merely volunteer to handle links (looking at you, terminal emulators) don't make the cut. You wanted Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Arc, Brave, and the other six you swear you're going to uninstall. Not a surprise text editor. SCHEDULED SWITCHING, FOR THE COMPULSIVELY ORGANIZED Set up as many time blocks as you like: this browser from 9:00 to 17:00, that one for the evening, another for whatever you get up to at 2 AM. Each block repeats daily, or fires once on a specific date if you prefer your commitments non-binding. Outside every block, your primary browser takes over. Boundaries are respected to the minute, and BrowserSwap re-checks the clock when your Mac wakes from sleep — so shutting the lid doesn't leave you in the wrong browser until Thursday. STAYS OUT OF THE WAY - Menu bar only. No Dock icon, no window taking up residence on your desktop. - Launch at Login, one toggle, handled properly through macOS. - Hide the browser icons in the menu if you prefer your lists austere. - Skip the preferences window at launch once you've set things up. FREE. ACTUALLY FREE. No subscription. No in-app purchases. No "Pro" tier that unlocks the second browser. No ads, no account, no newsletter, no tracking...the app has no idea what you browse and no way to tell anyone. It changes a system setting and goes back to being a small icon sitting in the menubar. Download it, set it, forget it. And never open that System Settings pane again to change your default browser.
