Chess Best Move turns a screenshot of a chess position into the best move, with analysis on your device. It is a study tool: review a game you have finished, work through a puzzle, or examine a position you set up yourself.
HOW IT WORKS
Import a screenshot from Photos, the share sheet, paste, drag and drop, or a Shortcut. With Full Access to Photos, opening the app recognizes a fresh chess screenshot automatically. Check any uncertain squares before analysis.
Unlimited users get automatic analysis; others tap Analyze. Choose 1, 3, 5, 10 or 30 seconds of think time. See the move in words or chess notation and as a board arrow, with the evaluation and engine line.
APPLE WATCH
Tap Analyze latest screenshot on your paired Apple Watch to request a three-second analysis on iPhone. The latest screenshot can be any age and must be available locally. See the move and arrow, with a completion haptic. Tap the board to enlarge it and replay the move. A complication opens the app. Requires Full Access to Photos; existing Pro access and analysis credits apply.
HISTORY AND MOVES
Save positions and results on this device, without keeping original screenshots. Reopen a saved result without spending another analysis. Delete entries or clear History. Choose words or chess notation in Settings. Tap the board to replay the move.
ON YOUR DEVICE
The recognition model and Stockfish 19 run on your iPhone or iPad. Your picture is never uploaded, nothing is sent to a server, and the app needs no network connection and no account. Nothing is tracked and there is no advertising. Running the same position again at a longer think time costs nothing.

- Pro Weekly, 2.99 US dollars per week: unlimited analyses.
- Pro Yearly, 24.99 US dollars per year: unlimited analyses.
- Pro Lifetime, 49.99 US dollars once: unlimited analyses, not a subscription.
If you close the purchase screen after running out, the app may also offer 15 Analyses, a one-time purchase of 2.99 US dollars for fifteen analyses that never expire.
The October launch offer has ended for new users. Customers who already received free unlimited access keep it.
Pro Weekly and Pro Yearly are auto-renewable subscriptions to Chess Best Move Pro, which gives unlimited analyses for as long as it is active. Pro Weekly costs 2.99 US dollars for each one-week period. Pro Yearly costs 24.99 US dollars for each one-year period. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel a subscription in Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. Pro Lifetime and the 15-analysis pack are one-time purchases and never renew. The prices above are the United States prices; every other region follows Apple's own price conversion.

Ratings & Reviews
Move previews now loop, with clear labels above the board for the start and resulting positions. Tap again to stop. The expanded board on Apple Watch now fills more of the screen.
