Flow Breakdown
Record a flow, get a teardown
Only for Mac

Mac
The app you're studying isn't in any screenshot library? Record it. Get every distinct screen and your notes under each, ready to paste into Figma. All on your Mac.
Benchmark any app flow in minutes. Screen-record it, drop the recording on Flow Breakdown, and get every distinct screen laid out side by side, ready to review with your team in Figma. No scrubbing, no screenshotting, no cropping.
Screenshot libraries only have the apps they captured. Flow Breakdown works on anything you can record: the competitor nobody has catalogued, the onboarding that shipped last week, your own flow before it ships.
EVERY DISTINCT SCREEN, NO NEAR-DUPLICATES
A minute of video becomes the handful of screens that matter, not a hundred frames. If the cut isn't right, the screen count opens the alternatives, each with the number of screens it gives.
STUDY ANIMATIONS FRAME BY FRAME
The one thing a screenshot library can never show you is how it moves. Switch the cut to Every frame and the transition you admired becomes a row of stills — the spring, the fade, the reorder, laid out side by side. Nothing else lets you study another app's animation like this.
STRAIGHT INTO FIGMA
Copy to Figma pastes every screen as its own layer, with your notes and mark-up. Save the file instead, or copy the whole board as one PNG.
TALK WHILE YOU RECORD, AND IT'S KEPT
Screenshot libraries show what an app looks like. Your recording shows what it felt like to use. Say what you notice as you go, and each screen gets a note in your words. No voice? Everything else works the same.
MARK IT UP
Boxes, highlights, arrows, numbered steps, and redaction for anything private. Every action is one ⌘K away.
YOUR BREAKDOWNS, KEPT
Each breakdown saves itself as a document in the folder you choose. Finder, Spotlight and Open Recent find it, and it reopens exactly where you left it.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Everything runs on your Mac: finding screens, transcription, key points. Nothing is uploaded, there's no account, and nothing is tracked.
ALSO
• Key points: turn a long spoken note into a few short bullets.
• Feelings: tag each screen from delighted to blocked and see the emotional journey above the flow.
• Tap arrows (beta): the button you pressed, drawn as an arrow to the next screen.
Requires macOS 26. Key points and feeling suggestions need Apple Intelligence.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Keep the changes that matter. Screen extraction now pays attention to text changes and filters brief blank transitions, making recorded flows easier to follow.
Choose Overview for a shorter summary, Flow for the main steps, or Detailed Flow for more of the changes between them. To study motion, switch to Animation for a storyboard or step through every source frame in manageable pages.
Large breakdowns use less memory. Full-resolution images stay on disk and the canvas loads detail as you need it. Your saved images and PNG exports keep their original quality.
Also in this release:
- More reliable switching between flow and animation views, with notes kept on the right screens.
- Safer cancellation when opening another recording or starting over.
- Faster saving of images that have already been captured.
