Live Sound Translator listens to the sound your Mac is playing, turns the speech into text, translates it, and shows it as floating subtitles over whatever you are watching.

Please note: with a cloud AI provider, the transcribed text (never the audio) is sent directly from your Mac to that provider, which handles it under its own privacy policy. The app asks before it first sends text to a service.

• Click their language and they speak: what they say appears translated, as a conversation
• Click your language and speak, or type: when you pause, your reply is translated and read aloud in their language
• Every conversation is kept on your Mac, to read again or share as text or subtitles
• Works offline once the languages are downloaded; Downloaded Languages manages them in one place

• Subtitles appear while people are still speaking, then settle into the final sentence
• Every line stays up long enough to read, at a reading speed you choose
• Conversations: tells up to four speakers apart, on your Mac, with coloured names on the subtitles and a transcript that reads like a dialogue. Rename speakers with a click
• See the original text above the translation, or just the translation, each at its own size
• Pinyin under Chinese text, on or off
• A floating panel that stays above your other windows and never blocks your clicks. Resize it to see more: it shows as many recent messages as fit, like a running conversation
