Egg-laying season is here. Squash spotted lanternflies, scrape egg masses, earn points, and climb the leaderboard. Free, and built by a group of Yale students. A decentralized, people-powered campaign to protect native habitats and eradicate invasive species. Lantern Hunt turns invasive-species removal into a community effort. The first target is the spotted lanternfly: find adults and egg masses, document your removals, and earn points for verified kills. See it. Snap it. Stomp it. Score. Through a gamified platform, Lantern Hunt makes it easy—and fun—for anyone to take part. Hunters can track verified removals on the map, compete on the leaderboard, build streaks, customize their lanternfly, and collect nymph companions as they contribute to the larger eradication effort. Lantern Hunt also helps hunters identify spotted lanternflies and egg masses in the wild, turning individual action into useful, geographically distributed removal data.
