Bring your desktop to life with animated rain, snow, fog, autumn leaves, warm sunlight, and little visitors called Lings™. Weather effects land on your windows while you work. Collect Lings, build your score, and share your collection.
Rain splashes on your windows, pools along their edges, and runs down the sides. Snow gathers on window tops and tumbles down when they close.
Autumn leaves drift in the wind and settle on your windows. Shake a window to scatter them, swipe your cursor through falling leaves to stir up a gust, and watch water and passing Lings carry them along.
Warm sunlight rays shine among your windows. Set the scene with independent controls for rain, snow, fog, leaves, and sunlight, using Fixed or Random settings.
NEW: SYNC WITH YOUR WEATHER
Turn on Sync with Your Weather and the conditions where you are set the scene: rain, snow, fog, sunlight, and wind, from Apple Weather. Type a city or ZIP code, or use your approximate location. Invert shows the opposite, so a grey day outside brings sunshine to your desktop. Move a control yourself and syncing pauses until you resume it.

A LITTLE WEATHER, A LITTLE PLAY
Little visitors called Lings™ come and go, each with their own personality. Watch them wander or take a break to play and build your collection.
Turn on Interactive mode in the Lings settings to click and hold a Ling. Drop your Ling into a box to collect points, or let go elsewhere and see how they make their escape.
COLLECT, DISCOVER, SHARE
Discover new combinations as you build your collection. Optional floating points show your score change when you collect a Ling.
See your total points and collection of Ling-and-box combinations in Settings. Share My Score makes a card right on your desktop: copy it, save it as an image, drag it into a message, or use the share menu. Social shortcuts open a post for you to finish, with the card ready to paste or attach.
STILL YOUR QUIET CORNER
- Adjust rain, snow, fog, leaves, and sunlight independently, each with Fixed and Random settings. Enjoy one effect or combine all five.
- Optional sync with the weather where you are, or its opposite with Invert
- Lings with their own personalities, animations, and sounds are waiting to be discovered. Watch them visit, collect them, and share your score.
- Snow gathers on window tops, falls when released, and melts away
- Splashes, pooling, rivulets, and waterfalls in heavier rain
- Adjustable intensity, from a passing drizzle to a downpour
- Optional rain and snow ambience and Ling sounds, with separate weather and Ling volume controls. Choose whether sound continues over full-screen apps.

ACCESSIBILITY
Weatherling works fully with VoiceOver. In Settings > Accessibility, you can collect Lings without dragging (on automatically with VoiceOver), show descriptive box labels to identify boxes without relying on color, and choose whether effects pause while Reduce Motion is on.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Weatherling runs in the App Sandbox without Screen Recording or Accessibility permission. It reads window geometry, never titles or contents. Weather effects let clicks pass through to your apps. Leaves react to cursor movement; Lings can be picked up when interaction is enabled.
No account or in-app analytics. Your collection and score stay on your machine unless you choose to share a score card or text through another app or website.
Sync with Your Weather is off until you turn it on. When it is on, the place you choose is sent to Apple Weather to look up current conditions, and nowhere else.

Weatherling 1.6 brings your local weather to your desktop, adds drifting fog, and makes your favorite effects easier to control.
- Sync with Your Weather: use your current location or choose a place to sync rain, snow, sunlight, fog, and wind with Apple Weather. Invert the conditions for the opposite mood. Pause or stop syncing to return to your manual weather.
- Fog rolls in and out on the wind, with independent Fixed and Random controls.
- Redesigned menu-bar controls and Settings keep weather sliders within reach, with clearer sync states and a new Help pane.
- Randomize all effects at once, or let individual effects change on their own. Random weather now settles between scheduled changes.
- Automatic smoothness adapts to each display. Set it yourself to balance energy use and smoother motion, with more efficient rendering and improved rain animation.
- VoiceOver support and optional Collect without dragging controls make it easier to explore settings and collect Lings. Collection controls appear automatically while VoiceOver is on.
- Sunlight settings now survive relaunches. Rain no longer washes away snow during mixed precipitation, and corner streams stay consistent on high-refresh displays.
