Wirespeed shows your real network speed in the menu bar.
It reads the throughput counters macOS already keeps for your network interface, so the number you see is the traffic actually crossing your connection. Nothing is estimated, and Wirespeed never downloads anything in the background to measure you.
ONE GLYPH, NOT TWO
The menu bar shows a single figure: whichever direction is busier right now. The arrow flips between download and upload as traffic changes, so the meter stays narrow instead of spending space on a number you are not reading.
FOLLOWS THE RIGHT CONNECTION
Wirespeed measures the interface your Mac is actually routing through, whether that is Wi-Fi, Ethernet or a VPN tunnel, rather than adding every adapter together and double counting while a VPN is up. The panel names the connection so you always know what is being measured.
A MINUTE OF HISTORY
Open the panel for a sixty second graph of download and upload, alongside totals for the current session and the fastest speed you have reached.
YOUR IP, ONE CLICK AWAY
Your local network address is always in the panel. Click it to copy. Your public address is there too, but only when you ask for it: Wirespeed does not contact an outside service merely because you opened the menu.
A SPEED TEST WHEN YOU WANT ONE
Run an on demand download, upload and latency test from the panel.
CLEAR WHEN YOU ARE OFFLINE
A dropped connection shows a warning glyph rather than a rate of zero, which is indistinguishable from a quiet connection.
BUILT FOR MACOS
Written in SwiftUI and sandboxed, with a negligible footprint. No account, no telemetry, no background uploads.
