YOUR READING DESK
• Paste a passage or import a UTF-8 plain text file.
• Keep passages on this device and open them in a selectable text reader.
• Try the included English and Spanish practice passages.
• Save passages up to 20,000 characters; text imports are limited to 100 KB.
TRANSLATE WHILE YOU READ
On iOS/iPadOS 18.4 or later, choose oTranslate as your default translation app in Settings → Apps → Default Apps → Translation. Select text in a compatible system text-selection menu and tap Translate to open oTranslate's sheet.
• View your enabled translation sources in one sheet.
• Use on-device translation for supported language pairs after downloading language packs.
• Enable AI engines for alternative translations and language explanations.
• Replace selected text where the host app allows replacement.
• Translate typed or pasted text inside oTranslate too.
REMEMBER SAVED PHRASES
Save translations with the star or bookmark, then open Practice saved phrases from Read. Recall the meaning, reveal the saved answer, and choose Review again or Remembered. Review progress stays on this device. Reading saved passages and practicing saved answers work without a network request or Stars.
OPTIONAL HELP
Ask a question about selected text, attach a photo to a question, or use language-help modes such as Explain and Fix Grammar. System dictionary definitions depend on the dictionaries available on your device. Wikipedia context requires a network connection.
DATA & AI USAGE
Saving and reading a passage do not upload it. Starting a translation lookup sends the selected text to enabled online services, including AI engines after data-use consent and Wikipedia when enabled. AI questions and attached photos are sent when you submit the question. You can configure translation sources in Settings.
AI translations and questions use Stars and require a network connection. On-device translation does not use Stars; supported language packs must be available. Optional purchases add Stars, and Pro includes the allowance shown for the selected plan. Automated translations and answers may contain mistakes.
