Frigedaeg
Granular Synth
$4.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Also Included In
Grains running over a recording. There is no synthesiser inside — everything you hear is a fragment of the material.
Record from the microphone, keep it listening live, or load a file; a test tone is already loaded at launch, so it sounds the moment it opens. Eight pads read the material back as grains — where, how long, how high, how scattered, and through which filter and effect.
· Seven ways to play the grains: FIX, SCATTER, TOUCH, LFO, GATE, RIPPLE, LOOP
· Three engines: GRAIN, PULSE (pulsar synthesis) and FEED
· Eight XY pads, or the original four
· Filters (LP / HP, BP, COMB, RING, SHIFT, CRUSH, STUT), grain shapes, pitch and sample-and-hold
· Effects: delay, reverb, harmoniser, fold, digital — and FREEZE
· RENTHOUSE: a ring of five cells and two loopers that keep the sound moving without a finger on it
· CAM: the camera moves the pads
· Presets, materials A and B, EQ, compressor and limiter
· Optional LCD look
· iPhone and iPad, in landscape
Nothing leaves the device.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
· iPad: Frīgedæg now runs on iPad as well as iPhone, in landscape, filling the screen. Every panel opens full size.
· The LCD look is back as a switch: SETUP… → LCD turns the pads and the top and bottom windows into small LCD screens, with an old handheld-game picture behind each pad.
· The way the grains are played and the effect are now keys: tap for the next, hold for the one before.
· Audio inputs and outputs are named in English in SETUP.
