Twenty-five classic novels, from The Odyssey to The Great Gatsby, shown one word at a time in one spot on the screen. Your eyes stay still and the chapters go by faster.
Each word appears with one letter picked out in colour. Your eye settles on that letter instead of travelling along a line and back, so you can read quicker without losing the thread.
The library is already on your phone: Pride and Prejudice, Moby-Dick, Jane Eyre, Dracula, Crime and Punishment, Anna Karenina, The Count of Monte Cristo and eighteen more, over 1,100 chapters in all. Sort the shelf by title, by author, or by the year each book was published, from Homer to Fitzgerald. Every book opens to its full chapter list, with the words and minutes each chapter takes at your pace.
Finish a chapter and you see how many words you read, how long it took and how fast you went, with the next chapter one tap away. Your place is kept in every book, so a long novel fits into short sittings.
Set the pace anywhere from 100 to 1,200 words a minute. SmartFlow holds a word a little longer at commas, full stops and paragraph breaks, so the rhythm follows the sentence. Choose the pivot colour and a mono, system, serif or rounded typeface, and pinch to size the word.
The books are complete public-domain texts stored on the device, so they read offline. On iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your App Store account settings.
