Can you play what you hear?
HearBack helps you listen closely, rebuild a phrase and hear where your answer differs. Start with a short piano phrase and a missing note. No instrument, microphone or account is needed for local practice.
LISTEN, MOVE, DISCOVER
Repair a melody, fill a gap, reorder sound pieces or trace a phrase. Match intervals, rebuild chords, find a motif and follow a melody through accompaniment. Drag notes directly or use the keyboard and button alternatives.
HEAR THE CHORDS
Name chord progressions by their place in the key: I, IV, V and the minor chords, from a short ending to smooth inversions.
MAKE THE RHYTHM YOURS
Four clicks count in, then a rhythm plays over them. Tap it back, scored only on the spacing of your taps, or place it on a beat grid, untimed, and hear your answer. Play remembered melodies back after a count-in.
FORTY SHORT LESSONS
Eight units lead from clear pitch contrasts to close intervals, longer melodies, moving roots and chord inversions. An optional placement check finds your starting point. Learning offers unlimited replay.
NEW MUSIC EVERY WEEK
A themed drop arrives every Monday: three short sessions in a new key, the same music for every listener. A new collection of lessons and original phrases appears on the first of each month, without an app update.
A COACH FOR YOUR EAR
HearBack notices the tasks you miss most and the notes, intervals or chords you mix up, then builds a short practice around them. A monthly recap shows how your first answers changed.
BUILD YOUR DAILY PRACTICE
Earn XP, grow your level and collect milestones. Your six-question daily mix balances tricky differences, review and new material. Replays never earn extra XP. Optional reminders skip days with completed study.
LISTEN TOGETHER
Sign in with Apple for free competition. Everyone gets the same six-question ranked daily round with two listens per question; correct first answers earn points. Weekly leagues count your best five days and monthly standings your best twenty. Duel a friend or quick-match another listener, with clearly marked rival bots when nobody is free. Pro never improves competitive scores or access.
PLAY, JUST FOR FUN
Draw melodies up to eight bars long across two octaves with four voices, change the key, scale and tempo, then save and share sketches. Start from famous public-domain melodies such as Für Elise, Ode to Joy and In the Hall of the Mountain King, ready to loop. Play is separate from training and stays on your iPhone.

Free: the first two units, the beginner daily challenge, each weekly warm-up, one Pro task in your daily mix, basic progress, competition and Play. HearBack Pro unlocks the full course, chord progressions, custom practice, every drop session and past drops, the monthly collections, detailed progress, weekly checks, the challenge archive, and focused practice from your coach and missed rounds. Choose a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Eligible yearly subscribers may receive a seven-day trial. The App Store confirms price and eligibility before purchase.
YOUR LEARNING, YOUR CHOICE
Learn as a guest, or sign in with Apple to sync learning history between your iPhones. Play sketches remain local. Larger text, VoiceOver labels and step-by-step note entry are supported. Product analytics are optional: HearBack asks once and shares anonymous usage events only if you agree. Account sync and competition send their required learning and gameplay data separately. Manage or delete your account in Settings.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage them in Apple Account settings; deleting the app or account does not cancel a subscription. Lifetime is a single payment with no renewal. Pro expiry preserves saved history and sketches.
