New: Compare my mortgage. Enter what you borrowed and your rate to see your payment against today's average rate, whether refinancing would help, and the math step by step. New: Where could rates go? Odds that rates end lower, about the same or higher, with an honest report card on how often those odds have been right, plus a helper for adjustable-rate loans. The oil screen now explains each link as a percentage and shows the arithmetic. The price tiles are all one size and fill the screen with 30 everyday prices. Notifications now tell you what the system said and open the right screen when you tap them. The forecast shows each model's share of the mix.

New: Inflation Watch for Mac. The same figures, the same plain English and the same on-device assistant, in a proper Mac window with the sections in the toolbar. Buy once and it is yours on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Clearer: the oil screen now times every stage from the same move in crude, so the figures read as one timeline and the end-to-end delay is the last line of it. The 1923 story now tells the whole of the thief and the trunk in one go, including why he left the money in the street.

New: tap any price under What things actually cost to see its history. You get a chart you can press and drag to read any month, the highest and lowest, and what it cost one, five, ten and more years ago next to what prices overall did over the same months. Also new: each tab's title now sits level with its buttons, with no gap above it. Fixed: the oil screen showed 7 months in one place and 11 months in another. It now gives one figure, and says why the separate steps need not add up to it.

New: inflation under every president. See how prices moved under each leader, from King George III and the colonies to today, with a portrait, the policies they put in place and the world events behind each rise and fall. For the current term, budget estimates show what is still expected to come. Ask Inflation Watch a question and get a plain answer from the figures in the app. It runs on your device, works offline, and checks every number before showing it. The assistant is also faster, and the app is smaller. Also new: a National Debt screen for the ten largest economies, and a retold story of the 1923 German inflation. Fixed: figures could stay frozen until the app was closed and reopened. Europe's inflation rate had stopped updating in December and now shows the current figure. France and Italy are corrected too.
