A song, drawn uniquely. Rose listens with the on-device Music Understanding and draws every stem, beat and key change as one ring - yours to send, play, print or frame. Every song is arranged differently, so every song draws a different, unique ring. Rose turns a piece of music into a portrait. Point it at a track and it draws what it hears around one turn of a ring, from the first bar round to the last: each instrument as its own line, the loudness of every moment as fine spokes, the key as it changes, the beat as a pulse. Press play and a playhead sweeps the ring, flaring on every beat. Send your favourite song of the day to your friends and see if they can guess. WHAT IT HEARS The analysis comes from a new iOS 27 Apple framework, running on the device in your hand. It separates a recording into bass, drums, vocal and (currently) everything else, finds every beat and bar, works out the key section by section, and measures loudness moment by moment. Because Rose draws only what the framework hears, the picture is a record of the music itself: a sparse ballad and a wall of sound come out as visibly different shapes, and two mixes of the same song sit side by side with their differences showing. READ ANY SONG AT A GLANCE - instruments (the track separated was four stems) - key (the tonic and mode, worked out by section) - rhythm (every beat and bar) - loudness (momentary loudness - LUFS) - pace (how busy the music feels) - structure (song segments) Once you can read one ring you can read them all. The centre disk carries the tempo, the running time and the key in force right now. Around it, the loudness spokes grow where the mix is loud. The band beyond holds the four stems, each rising from the inner edge as that instrument gets busier and fading where it drops out. Tap the centre to bring one stem forward – the vocal on its own becomes a single closed curve, one continuous line that happens to be the shape of a song. BRING YOUR MUSIC – Files and iCloud Drive: any audio file you can reach. – Apple Music: search the catalogue, or take whatever is playing right now, and Rose draws the 30-second preview. – My Music: songs you own are analysed in full. – Listen for Key: point the microphone at music playing in the room and Rose works out its key, live. Everything you analyse is kept, so it opens instantly next time and your library grows into a gallery of portraits. Swipe to move between them. OFF THE PHONE Export a portrait as a PNG with a transparent background at 4096 pixels square – enough to print it more than thirteen inches wide. Select an album's worth and Rose tiles them into one image, where the sparse track and the frantic one are obvious at a glance. Put the song you have played four hundred times on the wall, post a ring and let people guess what it is, or give someone the first dance without printing the lyrics on a cushion. ON YOUR DEVICE There is no account, no upload and no tracking; your audio is analysed where it is and stays there. Requires iOS 27 or later. Apple Music catalogue tracks are DRM-protected and can't be read directly, so Rose analyses their previews; a song you own in My Music is analysed whole.
