A food and movement logbook that shows its work. Every number is an estimate, and Solstice tells you how wide the range is instead of hiding it. Solstice is a logbook for what you eat and how much you move. It works out your daily energy balance from what you enter, and shows you how it got there. WHAT IT DOES • Log meals through the day and see each meal's total. • A weekly budget, not just a daily one. Go over on Tuesday and the app shows what the rest of the week looks like instead of calling it a failure. • Estimates your basal metabolic rate from height, weight, age and sex. The equation and its source are named inside the app. If you have had yours measured, you can enter that instead. • Body fat percentage is optional. Enter it and the app switches to an equation that works from lean mass instead of total weight. • Movement in three modes: describe a typical day once, log each day individually, or set a weekly routine. 194 activities. • Protein, carbohydrate and fat targets. • Set a gentle, balanced or faster pace — or choose your own daily calories between 1200 and 4000. • Charts: daily balance, weekly accumulation, weight trend, and a projection band that widens the further out it goes. ESTIMATES, NOT MEASUREMENTS Every number in this app is an estimate. Metabolic equations come from population averages and individuals vary. Solstice shows the uncertainty instead of hiding it behind a confident-looking figure. SOLSTICE PLUS Photograph a plate and get a range back, not a single number. Portion size is the largest source of error, so the app asks you to correct it. Three analyses are free. SOLSTICE PRO Everything in Plus, plus training programmes. Tell it your days, your time per session, your equipment and what you want to emphasise; it builds the week around that and tells you honestly what it can and cannot get you. The rest of the app is free and works fully without a subscription. You can cancel any time from your phone's store settings. YOUR DATA Your entries stay on your phone. Profile details live in the device keychain. If you do not use photo logging, no health data leaves the device. If you do, location and device information are stripped from the photo before it is sent, and the removal is verified. WHO SHOULD NOT USE IT This app is not for you if you are under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, living with or recovering from an eating disorder, have type 1 diabetes, or have kidney or liver disease. The full list is in the app. This app is not a medical device. It is not designed to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Talk to your doctor or a dietitian before changing how you eat.
