Reads any book aloud in a voice that runs on your phone, the words lit like lyrics. Pages that turn like paper. No account, no tracking, never a subscription.
Duri is a reader for the books and documents you already have: EPUBs, PDFs and the scans of them, comics, plain text and Markdown, and articles saved from the web. It turns their pages like a book, remembers where you stopped, and keeps your highlights and notes where you can find them.
PAGES THAT TURN LIKE PAPER
A real page curl that follows your finger, the back of the leaf showing through, on every kind of file. On an iPad on its side the book lies open as a two-page spread, with the spine down the middle and a double-page comic panel across both.
MADE TO BE READ FOR HOURS
Four themes free and ten more with Pro, among them an E-ink theme that stops every animation. Five reading faces, and your own fonts with Pro. Line spacing and margins, a page you can pinch. Footnotes open where you are.
READS ALOUD
Any book, any document, even a scanned PDF, whose words Duri recognises on your phone. Press Listen and the voice begins within a second or two, from the page you are on or from any sentence you choose, and follows you when you turn the page. A listening view like lyrics, lit word by word, in a voice of Duri's own that runs on your phone: four to choose from, and nothing you read leaves the device. Ten minutes a day are free.
YOUR NOTES STAY YOURS
Highlight in five colours, write notes (typed or by hand), copy with a citation, make a quote card (Pro). Draw on a PDF with a pen, a highlighter and an eraser, and share the PDF with your marks in it. Export everything as Markdown or plain text, always, for free.
AWAY FROM THE APP
Widgets for the book you're reading, what's playing and your daily reading goal. A listening remote on your Apple Watch. Save a page from Safari's share sheet and it's an article in your library. Follow a site and new pieces arrive by themselves. On an iPad, read a book beside its translation.
ON IPHONE DUO
Open, a book lies across both screens with its spine on the fold, and the library and contents use both pages. Half folded, the page stands above the fold with the controls below, so it reads on a table by itself.
HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT CAN'T DO
Books locked to another store (Kindle, Apple Books) can't be opened here, and Duri says so rather than pretending.
NOTHING ABOUT YOU LEAVES YOUR DEVICE
No servers of ours. A book from a catalogue or a page you save comes straight from where it lives, and sync, if you want it, goes through your own iCloud and nowhere else.

One purchase, once, shared with your family: unlimited listening, iCloud sync, ten more themes and five accents, your own fonts, quote cards and PDF export of your notes. It costs US$9.99 (the App Store shows the price in your country), is paid once and never renews: it is not a subscription. Everything else is free, and stays free.

Fixes from your first days with Duri:
• Page numbers in books now go up by one with every page you turn, and "Page 12 of 340" counts the pages you'll actually turn.
• iCloud sync picks up changes from your other devices reliably, every time Duri opens.
• The page number and chapter name are right after turning into a new chapter, and on iPhone Duo in every position.
• Highlights, search results and the contents show the right page numbers in illustrated books.
• Smaller fixes: typing in a note, "Back to page N", and the library's menus.
