Referat now speaks German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Korean too – in the app, in transcripts and in summaries. It now runs on iOS 17 and later (summaries still need Apple Intelligence and iOS 26), and the Support Peter row sits at the end of About Referat.

Referat is free. Become a supporter if you like and get the show-off icons – extra app icons and a silly little game. Entirely optional; nothing gets locked. Referat is free, and every feature is available without unlocking anything. The one optional in-app purchase, Supporter (non-consumable), only adds extra app icons and a small game. Referat is a meeting recorder: it uses the audio background mode so a recording continues while the screen is locked (the app shows a Live Activity with the timer while recording). Transcription runs on the device with Whisper. On first use the app downloads the speech model once (626 MB, from huggingface.co, no user data is sent); after that no network is used. Summaries use Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models) and appear only on devices that support it; other devices get the transcript. To test: tap "Hent talemodellen / Download the speech model" and wait for it to finish, tap the red button, speak for 20 seconds, stop. The transcript and summary appear after processing. You can also import an audio file with the download icon in the top bar.
