Pochette - Music Organizer
MP3 Tags, Lyrics & Sheet Music
Free · In‑App Purchases
New in 1.3.1: drop files on a library to copy them in, ready to organize. Since 1.3, Guitar Pro tabs play, and your scores take tags beside your tracks.
Pochette edits the tags, names and folders of a music library kept as files. Your tags, your file names and your folders are three copies of the same facts. Pochette keeps them in agreement, and shows you every change before it makes it.
There is no import and no database. Open a folder and it is your library: every file under it is listed with its tags, cover, length and bitrate, read straight from the files. Close Pochette and nothing is left behind but better files.
PREVIEW FIRST, UNDO ALWAYS
A rename across five thousand files should not be a leap of faith. Every change Pochette makes is a plan first: each old name beside its new one, each old tag beside its new value, and anything that would collide listed on top. Nothing is applied until you say so, and a plan with a conflict cannot be applied at all. Undo still works after you quit, or after a crash, and never takes back an edit you made since.
KEY FEATURES
• Rename by pattern. Build a name from the tags, like Artist, Album, then track number and title. Empty fields can be left out, so a single with no track number is still named properly. Each library keeps its own pattern.
• Organize into folders. The same pattern with folders files loose downloads by artist and album, and Tidy Up does a whole library at once. Covers, cue sheets and logs travel with their album, and folders are removed only when Pochette emptied them. Keep the originals to try a pattern on copies first.
• Tags from path. Run the pattern backwards to fill in the tags of a folder that arrived untagged.
• Kinds. A folder that holds more than music narrows to its audio, or to any kind of file, in one step.
• Group by album, artist or folder. Select a whole album at once, and see which are missing a track or split over two folders.
• Batch edits. Set one field across a selection, find and replace in any tag, or number tracks in the order you see them.
• Every format that matters. MP3 (ID3v2.3 and v2.4), AAC and ALAC (M4A, M4B, MP4, and raw AAC), Ogg (Vorbis and Opus), FLAC, AIFF and WAV, read and written by Pochette itself. Frames it does not understand are kept exactly as they were.
• Your scores too. MIDI, PDF and Guitar Pro files list beside your tracks and take tags. MIDI and Guitar Pro files play, and MIDI takes tags once converted to RMID, which Undo turns back.
• Cover art, lyrics and every common tag, from track number to composer, the same in every format.
• Names that survive any disk. Characters a drive refuses are replaced, so a library copied to a NAS or USB drive keeps every name.
• iCloud Drive aware. Files still in iCloud are listed without being downloaded, and fetched only when you ask. Changes made by another app or device show up on their own.
• Your libraries on every device. Libraries kept in iCloud Drive, and their naming patterns, follow you through iCloud. A library can also stay on one device only.
• Delete to Recently Deleted with Undo, Quick Look a score or a cover, and play a track or search the library by title, artist, album or file name.
FREE TO TRY, ONE PURCHASE FOR THE REST
Pochette is free on up to 10 files at a time, so you can try it on your own music first. Pochette Pro, a one-time purchase with no subscription, removes the limit on your Mac, iPhone and iPad, and adds the Concert Grand, a Yamaha C5 recorded key by key, for your MIDI files. Browsing, playing, search and undo are never limited.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Pochette only touches the folders you give it, and it makes no network connections of its own. Your music, your tags and your listening habits are never sent anywhere. What does cross the network goes through Apple: MIDI instruments are downloaded from Apple when first needed, Pro is bought through the App Store, and iCloud keeps your libraries and patterns in sync. One switch in Settings turns that off.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Drop files on a library to add them. Pochette copies them into its folder as they are, selects them and offers to organize them. What the library already holds is skipped, and Undo takes the copies back.
• A library now has one pattern. Organize uses all of it, Rename only its last part after the final “/”, so Rename leaves files in their folders. A separate Rename pattern you had set gives way to the end of your Organize one.
• Some PDF scores damaged by another app refused every tag edit, and a few crashed Pochette. They now take their tags, and every page stays as it was.
• A track renamed or organized while it plays keeps playing, and shuffle keeps its order.
• A file the player cannot play is skipped, and Pochette says which.
• Typing “1/12” as a track number sets track 1, not 112.
• Pressing Return right after typing in Edit Tags or Rename applies what you typed.
• Started offline, Pochette now lets you buy Pro once you are back online, without relaunching.
• Organize no longer stops on a multi-disc album with a cover in each disc folder.
• Settings › Help has a row to rate Pochette on the App Store.
