Passport rules say photos must not be edited with apps or AI. So this one doesn't. It guides the shot, measures head size, eye line, focus and background, then crops. Most passport photo apps replace your background and smooth your face with AI. The US State Department says not to do that. Its own guidance tells applicants not to change passport photos "using computer software, phone apps or filters, or artificial intelligence". PassSnap takes the opposite approach. It never edits your photo. It helps you take a correct one, then crops and resizes it — nothing else. WHAT PASSSNAP IS NOT PassSnap does not create, generate or produce documents of any kind. It has no templates, no text tools, no way to add or alter anything in an image, and no way to make an ID card, a passport, a certificate or any other official item. It is a camera. It measures the photograph you take of yourself and then crops and resizes it. What you get is a photograph, which you submit yourself to the office handling your application. HOW IT WORKS Stand in front of a plain wall and the camera talks you through it. Thirteen checks run live, and the app tells you the one thing to fix next: • Head size and eye line, measured against the published requirements • Distance and position, so the crop will actually fit • Head straight, eyes open, mouth closed • Focus — blurry photos are a common rejection • Even lighting on your face, and no shadow on the wall behind you • Plain background of the right brightness for your document • Colour cast, because indoor bulbs turn a white wall orange • Phone level, because a tilted phone distorts your face • A reminder that glasses are not allowed TIMER AND SPOKEN GUIDANCE The rear camera takes a much better photo than the selfie camera. Prop your phone up, choose a timer, and PassSnap speaks the instructions out loud — "step back", "turn to face the light" — then counts you down. It waits until every check passes before it fires.
