Stop Motion Movie Maker takes a minute to learn and goes as deep as you want. FIVE BIG BUTTONS, ONE JOB EACH - Snap takes a picture. - Oops takes back the last picture. - Play plays the movie so far. - Ghost shows your last picture faintly over the camera, so every move lines up. - Done, pressed twice, saves the movie to Photos and starts a new one. After the first picture, the camera locks its focus, exposure and white balance, so your movie doesn’t flicker. Pick a speed: Slow, Medium or Fast. Hold the phone upright for a tall movie, or sideways for a wide one. NO HANDS IN THE SHOT Turn on Auto Snap, move something and take your hands away. The picture is taken once everything holds still. Auto Snap waits while a hand is still in the picture and never takes the same picture twice. Nobody touches the phone, so the camera never wobbles. MAKE IT A REAL MOVIE - Words and speech bubbles that pop in and wiggle - 54 sound effects: boings, bonks, splats, robots, lasers, creaky doors and a drum roll - 9 songs, plus a voice-over you record yourself - My Songs: bring your own music from Files, the Music app, or any app’s Share button and AirDrop - 11 one-tap looks, including Old Movie, Comic, Sketch, Pixels and Neon - An opening title with a live preview - An ending: “The End”, or rolling credits (“Directed by”, “Starring”…) that pick up the song by themselves STOP ANY TIME Every movie saves itself as you go, so you can come back tomorrow and keep snapping. Connect a TV or monitor with an HDMI adapter or AirPlay: the TV shows the live stage and the phone becomes the remote. Take pictures with a keyboard, a box of big arcade buttons, a foot pedal, a game controller (including the Xbox Adaptive Controller), a Bluetooth camera remote, the volume buttons, Camera Control or AirPods. Museum mode opens straight into a fresh movie for the next person and works with Guided Access. On iPhone Duo, half-fold the phone and it stands up as its own tripod, while the outer screen shows the puppeteers what the camera sees. STUDIO MODE Switch it on in Settings for manual camera controls, a self-timer, time-lapse, shooting on twos, scenes, a frame editor, a timeline you can move and trim, keyframes and “record path” motion, transitions, speed, reverse and boomerang, video import, 4K and HEVC export, and project backups. Stop Motion Movie Maker comes to the Mac, and your movies come with you. - iCloud sync: your movies show up on every iPhone, iPad and Mac signed in to the same Apple Account. Snap on the phone, decorate on the iPad, finish on the Mac. Turn it off in Settings if you like. - A Mac app: a big studio window with menus and keyboard shortcuts. Use a webcam or your iPhone as the camera, drag pictures in from Finder, and give the stage its own window for a second screen or a projector. Stop Motion Pro works there too, with no second purchase. - iPhone Duo: half-fold it and it stands up as its own tripod, with the picture on the upright half and the buttons on the half lying flat. The outer screen shows the puppeteers what the camera sees, with a SNAP button of its own. - Drag things along the timeline: tap a sticker, word, sound or clip, then drag it to just the right moment. Stickers and sounds ride along with their clip.
