Bring your Apperson DataLink 1200 scanner back to life. Scan bubble sheets, score instantly, and see exactly which questions to reteach.
DataLink Scanner is an independent app for the Apperson DataLink 1200 optical mark scanner—a bubble-sheet reader many schools already own but can no longer use because the original software is unavailable on current systems.
Plug the scanner in, choose your class, and feed the answer sheets. The app puts the scanner into Data Collection mode and reads a complete record from every sheet, including the bubbled student ID and each response. It matches every sheet to a student as it scans.
Because answers are captured individually rather than only as a total score, the app can generate a complete item analysis after scoring. See which questions the class missed, which incorrect answers attracted students, and how effectively each question distinguished between stronger and weaker performance. A stack of graded sheets becomes a focused list of concepts to reteach.
WHAT IT DOES
• Connects directly to the DataLink 1200 over USB—no vendor software required
• Reads the student ID and every bubbled response as sheets feed
• Matches each sheet to a student roster
• Scores sessions against an answer key
• Produces per-question analysis, including miss rate, distractor selection, and discrimination
• Saves sessions locally for later review
• Exports results and analysis to CSV
• Optionally sends a scored run to a web address you configure
PRIVACY
Scanning, scoring, and analysis happen locally, and your data remains in a folder you choose. The app requires no account and includes no analytics or proprietary cloud service. Student data leaves your computer only when you configure your own upload address and choose to send a scored run.

DataLink Scanner is intended for teachers and schools that already own an Apperson DataLink 1200 but can no longer use its original software. It provides the software needed to continue using the existing scanner.
