Turn any place on Earth into a laser-cut street map clock. Pick a city, choose a shape and material, preview it in AR at true size, and export cut-ready files.
Urban Grid turns the streets of any city into a laser-cut wall clock.
Search for a city, neighborhood or address, frame the map, and watch the street network become an open lattice: the streets and the frame are the material, and every block, park and body of water is cut away. Add a clock movement, numerals and a personal title, then preview the finished piece at true size in augmented reality before it is ever cut.
DESIGN
• Circle, square, rectangle, oval and hexagon, from 10" to 24"
• Maple, aluminum, and red, white or black acrylic
• Street detail from main roads to every side street; minimum 3 mm street width for a strong cut
• Smart supports bridge any loose piece to the nearest street and verify nothing is missing
• Personalize with a title, subtitle and coordinates along the bottom edge, or let the app name it from the map
CLOCK
• Modelled 1:1 on a standard 12" quartz movement with a clean shaft hole and hub
• Numerals on the lattice or on an oversized backing plate — 12·3·6·9 or all twelve
PREVIEW IN AR
• Place the clock on your wall or table, switch shapes and sizes at true scale, and save a photo or record a video
EXPORT
• SVG, DXF and STEP in millimeters or inches, lettering as outlines, ready for any laser cutter or CNC
DATA
• Street and water data from the US Census TIGER dataset for the United States, with OpenStreetMap for parks and places outside the US
• New York City is built in; any place you search is saved on your device for offline use
