Four updates in one: Storm Watch, the outlooks and tides, widgets at a glance, and 4Cast out and about. • On the road: the weather along a drive at the hour you would pass each stretch, from the Radar tab or a place's menu, and whether a later start is drier. In Your Day, a plan 25 km (15 miles) or more away says when to leave. • By the water in the United States: the tides, the waves, the swell and the water's temperature from NOAA's buoys, and rivers against their flood stage. • Tonight's sky in Sky Moments, now in each place's menu: the Moon, the bright planets, meteor showers and eclipses, each with the clouds. • Storm Watch: hurricanes, typhoons and tropical storms with their track, cone and winds, when their winds should reach your places with the National Hurricane Center's chances, and a Live Activity as one nears. • NOAA's outlooks of severe storms and flooding rain for the days ahead, on each place's window and as a map layer. • Lightning over the Americas live on the map, and real radar over all of Canada. • New widgets, Your Day and Tides, and storms on your weather widgets. On Apple Watch: the storm, your next plan and the tide, with two new complications. • Ask 4Cast knows your plans, the storms, lightning, the outlooks and the tides. • Optional notes, each off until you turn it on: lightning nearby, a stormy day ahead, a river reaching flood stage, a clear night for a meteor shower or an eclipse, and when to leave. • Fixes: a widget's rain countdown moves on at zero, a place you remove no longer comes back from iCloud, and a sky moment's note comes only once.

• Your Day: your plans with their weather. Every event in your calendar with a place gets the forecast for that place and hour, today and tomorrow. When the weather matters, the window says so ("Rain at 7AM for Morning ride. Drier from 9AM."), and a note comes the evening before. Turn it on in Settings, or from the menu on the place's name. • The best hours for a run, a ride, a walk, the beach, the garden, photographs or the stars where you are, within your own limits for rain, wind, heat and cold. Ask 4Cast keeps to your limits too. • Your calendar is read on your iPhone and never changed. • Adding a place says so: a tick in the search, then a note on its window.

• A new icon: the night sky. • Ask 4Cast: ask about the weather in your own words, in the new Ask tab or with Siri and Spotlight. Will it rain this afternoon, what to wear, the best time for a run, the weekend, a night for stars. Answers come from 4Cast's forecast, worked out on your iPhone by Apple Intelligence; without it, 4Cast still answers the common questions. • Sky Moments: see when the sunset or sunrise should glow, when a rainbow may show, when the night is clear and dark for stars and when the aurora could reach your sky. Rainbows, clear nights and the aurora can tell you when they come: turn them on in Settings. • Share the Sky: share the sky over any of your places as a picture or a six-second loop, with its weather written over it. Tap the place's name. • Turn your iPhone on its side: the words on one side, the hours and the days on the other. iPad gets the same two columns. • Made for iPhone Duo: half folded, the sky's words stand above the fold and the hours lie below it. • Small widgets read clearly in StandBy. • The written forecast reads as a sentence: "Partly cloudy conditions through the afternoon".

• Your current location now follows you. After a journey the app shows the weather where you are as soon as you open it, without needing to be closed first.

• Smoother rain on iPad. When a device cannot keep every frame of the rain, the sky now eases its pace so the rain stays even, and returns to full speed when the device can carry it.

• On an iPad held in landscape, the rain on the glass falls down the screen again. It was running sideways. • Tilting an iPad in landscape now moves the sky the way you tilt it.

• The sky is under your finger. Drag along the hour line and the sun moves as you move: afternoon into dusk into night, with nothing catching up afterwards. Let go and the day runs back to now. • Swipe to another place and the sky changes as far as you swipe. Stop half-way and you hold a half-way sky. • Rain clouds that look like the clouds over you: a low grey deck with ragged shreds under steady rain, towers with dark bases and an anvil under a storm, fair-weather heaps on a bright day. They drift and build smoothly. • The rain stays on the glass between places: it thins or thickens as you go. • The map's rain now comes from each region's own public weather service: NOAA radar across the United States, the Japan Meteorological Agency in Japan with an hour's nowcast, EUMETSAT's view from space across Europe, Africa and much of Asia, and the forecast model everywhere else, each with its own legend. • Air quality is measured where there are monitors nearby (US EPA AirNow) and modelled elsewhere (Finnish Meteorological Institute), and the app says which. • The hour under your finger now sits above the hour labels, where you can read it.

• 4Cast on Apple Watch: the same window on the real sky, on your wrist. Rain beads on the watch's glass and runs toward the ground as you turn your wrist, snow falls past it, and the countdown ticks while you look. • Turn the Digital Crown and the window moves through the next 24 hours: the sun goes down, the stars come out, and the forecast follows. • Swipe for your other places, swipe up for ten days and the air. • A Smart Stack widget that shows the sky where you are, and complications for the watch face.

• A new face: the whole screen is now a window on the sky. The real sky is drawn behind your forecast and the weather lands on the glass itself: rain beads and runs down the display, snow banks along the top, the sun glints across it. • Only words on the glass: the temperature, the condition, the forecast written out, the next hours as a line, the next days in words. Pull up for ten days and the air, and tap any word for its detail. • Drag the line of hours and the window shows that hour: the sun goes down, the stars come out, the rain starts or stops. • Widgets are windows too: your home screen shows the same sky and the same weather on the glass, a fresh frame every two minutes, with countdowns that keep ticking. Places shows every city you follow on its own sky at its own hour. • Radar keeps its map under the same words; Places lists your cities as windows.

• Much lighter on the battery. The sky now draws only as often as it actually moves, instead of at the display's full rate all the time, and the glass effects rest while nothing changes on the cards. Scrolling, tilting and falling rain are as smooth as before. • The written summary is renewed only when the forecast changes. • Widgets and background updates do less work while the weather is settled. • Atmosphere quality (Settings) now also applies to the rain, hail and snow on the cards: Balanced and Low use less battery.

• Weather that lands on the glass: rain, hail and snow now hit the Today cards and behave like the real thing. Drops splash and bead, run down with the wind and drip from the edges; hail bounces off; snow piles up along the tops. • A new look for Today: the cards are lit glass, the tiles are sized by what matters most today, and the top tile shows its weather live. • Sound: quiet weather sounds and soft interface sounds. Both follow the Ring/Silent switch and mix with your music; turn them off in Settings › Sound. • Live Activities now follow only your current location, also when 4Cast refreshes in the background.

• Glass weather: rain beads and runs down the cards, snow settles on their tops, fog drifts over them, lightning lights their edges and a low sun glints along them. Tap a card to ripple it. • Appearance: choose System, Light or Dark in Settings. • Live Activities now follow your current location. • A new About page in Settings.
