Vaska – Photo Culling & Import
Pick the best from any SD card
Only for Mac

Mac
Go through an SD card one photo at a time, keep the best with a single key and import only your keepers to Photos. Nothing on the card is ever changed.
Vaska is the simple way to get photos from your camera's SD card into Photos on your Mac – and only the ones worth keeping.
Insert the memory card and look at each photo in turn. Press P to keep a photo, and Vaska moves on to the next one. When you're done, click Import: the photos you kept go straight into your Photos library, in a new album if you like. Everything else stays on the card.
GO THROUGH A CARD ONE PHOTO AT A TIME
• A large view of each photo, with a filmstrip below
• Keep a photo with P, and Vaska moves on to the next one
• Zoom to 100% with Z, a click or a pinch to check focus
• Swipe with two fingers to move between photos
• Rotate photos with Command-R, like in Photos – only the imported copy is turned
• Everything works from the keyboard, and every change can be undone
SEE EVERYTHING AT A GLANCE
• A grid like the one in Photos, with square or whole thumbnails
• Select several photos and keep them all at once
• Kept photos get a checkmark, like selected photos in Photos
• Photos that are already in your library are marked as imported, so you never import the same photo twice
• Show all photos, only the new ones or only the ones you kept
IMPORT ONLY YOUR KEEPERS
• Import into a new album, an existing album or just your library
• Or copy them to any folder, for example on an external drive, in a new folder named after the dates
• RAW+JPEG pairs are imported together, as one photo in Photos
• Import progress in the sidebar and in the Dock, and a notification when it's done
• Eject the card from Vaska when you're finished
WORKS WITH YOUR CARDS AND CAMERAS
• SD, microSD, CFexpress and other memory cards, in the built-in SD card slot or a card reader
• JPEG, HEIC and the RAW formats that macOS supports
• Or choose File > Open Folder for photos that are already on your Mac
MADE FOR THE MAC
• Designed for macOS, with Dark Mode, full screen and VoiceOver
• Can open automatically when you insert a memory card
• Never changes or deletes anything on the card
• No account, no tracking and no data collection
"Vaska" is Swedish for panning for gold: the gravel is washed away and the nuggets are left. That's what Vaska does with your photos.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Select several photos at once in the grid – with Shift-click, Command-click or Command-A – and keep them all in one go. Rotate photos with Command-R and Option-Command-R, like in Photos. Only the imported copy is turned; the file on the card is never changed.
Vaska is also simpler: press P to keep a photo and go to the next one. There's no need to reject or rate photos anymore – whatever you don't keep simply stays on the card. Photos you already kept are still kept.
