Free, with no ads, no sign-up and no settings screen. The circle pulses the instant you hear each click, even on Bluetooth. Hold it and tap along to set a tempo.
Simple Metronome with No Ads is a free iPhone metronome: no ads at all, no sign-up and no settings screen. A single circle pulses at the very instant you hear each click, as strongly as the click is loud, so you can follow the beat with your eyes as well as your ears.
SEE THE BEAT
• The circle swells on every beat and settles back, like jelly, before the next one. The downbeat swells more.
• The pulse follows the sound as you actually hear it, allowing for the delay of Bluetooth headphones and AirPlay speakers.
• The dots at the top light up with each beat of the bar.
TAP A TEMPO
• Hold the circle, then tap it along with a song or the tempo in your head. While you tap, it stays silent and gives the beat back to you as a vibration.
• Stop tapping, and the clicks fade in at your tempo.
EVERYTHING ON ONE SCREEN
• 30–300 BPM: tap − or +, hold to repeat, or drag the number.
• 1–7 beats per bar: tap right of the dots for more, left for fewer. 1 means no accent.
• The downbeat is higher and louder.
• A mellow electronic click, pitched to stand out from instruments without hurting your ears.
BUILT TO BE RELIED ON
• The tempo never drifts, however long it plays: every click is placed to the sample.
• Plays with the silent switch on, and keeps going when the screen is locked. The screen stays on while it plays.
• Plays along with music from other apps without stopping it.
• Stops for phone calls and when wired headphones are unplugged, and never restarts on its own.
• With Reduce Motion on, the circle shows the beat by brightness instead of size. Works with VoiceOver.
• Also handy beyond instruments: running cadence, dance, conducting.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No ads, no tracking, no account and no in-app purchases. The app collects no data and makes no network requests of its own. Your tempo and beats per bar stay on your iPhone.
Left out on purpose: subdivisions, sound choices, presets and setlists. If you want one tool that keeps the beat and nothing else, this is it.
