ABC Trails: Letter Tracing
Handwriting for Preschoolers
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Trace letters, join numbered dots and solve mazes, now with redrawn art. Lumi the lemur cheers when your child earns a sticker. No ads, no accounts, no data collected.
Your child traces a letter. A little pencil shows how it is drawn and a friendly voice gives a hint. When the letter is done, a sticker lands in the album.
ABC Trails helps children aged 3 to 6 learn to write letters, numbers and shapes with a finger or an Apple Pencil, then practice the same pencil control with dot-to-dot pictures and mazes. No reading is needed: every instruction is spoken.
HOW IT WORKS
Each letter comes in three steps. First trace a wide road, then a dotted line, then write it with no guide. The animated pencil shows where to start and which way to go. The app checks every stroke for path, direction and order, and answers with a short spoken cue. Wobbly lines are fine. Nothing is ever marked in red.
NEW: DOTS AND MAZES
- 42 connect-the-dots pictures: count 1 to 5, 1 to 10, 1 to 20, or follow the alphabet from A. Join the last dot and the outline turns into a colored picture for the album.
- 32 mazes, from tiny 3 by 3 paths to big 8 by 8 gardens. Lead a bee to its flower or a rabbit to its carrot. No timer and no way to lose.
WHAT YOUR CHILD LEARNS
- Capital and small letters, numbers 0 to 20 and simple shapes and lines
- The name and sound of each letter, with a picture word
- Number order and alphabet order, one dot at a time
- Stroke order that matches common US school handwriting
- Their own name, written stroke by stroke on the My Name island
FOR GROWN-UPS
A section behind a parental gate shows progress, the letters that are still tricky, and how far your child counts with the dots. You can choose Print or Modern Print (slanted, with small tails), set the writing hand to left or right, and turn sound off.
MADE FOR THE KIDS CATEGORY
- No ads, no accounts, no analytics and no third-party code
- No internet needed. The app collects no data
- Your child's name and progress stay on your device

Two new islands. Join numbered dots until a picture appears, or help a bee, a rabbit and their friends find the way through 32 mazes.
Menus and spoken instructions now come in 28 languages. The letters and words your child learns stay in English.
The animals, objects, islands, tracing road and app icon are redrawn in a new style. Dot pictures fit their shapes better.
A trail links the islands and turns gold up to the furthest one your child has reached.
Lumi, a ring-tailed lemur, waves on the home screen after a new sticker and cheers on the reward screen.
On iPad, album stickers and the tiles inside each island are bigger.
