Sun & Moon Path brings daytime photography and night planning together in one free iPhone app. Switch between Sun and Moon tabs to explore the same place and time, from golden hour to the next full Moon.
SEE BOTH PATHS IN AR
Point your iPhone at the landscape and follow the predicted path of the Sun or Moon. AR starts at your current location and the time now. Adjust the time to explore another moment; your remote plan stays intact when you return. Moon paths continue across midday and midnight.
PLAN THE LIGHT
Check sunrise, sunset, solar noon and daylight duration. Explore morning and evening golden and blue hour, then tap an event or move the time slider to see the direction and height on a dial or north-up map.
FOUR WEEKS OF MOON PHASES
Browse a rolling 28-day calendar with daily Moon shapes and exact new, full and quarter-phase milestones. Tap a day to plan ahead. Check moonrise, moonset, the highest point, phase, illuminated fraction, distance and estimated brightness relative to a full Moon.
FIND A DARKER NIGHT
Explore the night ahead, from local noon to the following noon. See astronomical darkness, Moon-free darkness and a separate phase and brightness estimate for the following midnight. Brightness is an estimate, not a measurement of light on the ground.
YOUR PLACES, TOGETHER
Use your location, search, choose a map point or enter coordinates and a timezone. Save places with names and notes, and share labelled planner or AR images. Import Moon Path's places.json through Files while keeping your existing places and settings.
FREE AND PRIVATE
No account, advertising, analytics service, subscription or in-app purchases. Calculations run on your iPhone. Saved places and manual coordinates with confirmed timezones work offline; maps, search and automatic timezone lookup need a connection. Saved files may be included in normal device backups.
Predictions do not model terrain, buildings, clouds, weather, light pollution, atmospheric dimming or eclipses. AR needs a supported iPhone with a compass, camera and location access. Alignment depends on tracking and sensors; at night, use lit, textured surroundings. The planner remains available when AR is unavailable.

Switch between Sun and Moon tabs for the same place and time. The Moon planner adds a four-week phase calendar, moonrise and moonset, illumination, estimated brightness, distance and Moon-free darkness.
View either path in AR at your current location and time. Existing saved places are kept, and you can import saved places from Moon Path through Files.
Includes Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, German and French.
