Rowsy is a free row counter and stitch counter for crochet and knitting on iPhone and iPad, with an Apple Watch counter in Rowsy Pro. Tap once per row or round, keep your place in your PDF pattern with a ruler on the line you are on, and pick up exactly where you stopped. No ads, no account, no AI.
No more paper tallies or sticky notes. Counting, reminders and the pattern reader are free and work offline.
ROW COUNTER AND STITCH COUNTER
• Tap the big counter to add a row. Miscounted? Undo in one tap.
• Lock mode: a bump or a cat on your lap never adds a row.
• Counters for rows, rounds, stitches and repeats, each with a start value, a step (count by 2, 3…) and a target.
• Linked counters: your repeat counter goes up by one every 8 rows, automatically.
• Row reminders with your own note: "Start decreases" at row 24, every 8 rows, 6 times, or rows 40 to 60.
PDF PATTERN TRACKER WITH A ROW RULER
• Import knitting and crochet patterns as PDFs, photos or web pages, from Files, Photos, Safari or Mail.
• On PDFs, the ruler snaps to each line of text and stretches over several rows for knitting charts and crochet graphs. Turn on "Move ruler when I count" and it moves down a line with each row.
• Highlighter, pen, notes, bookmarks, search and a floating mini counter. On iPad, pattern and counters side by side.
• Your patterns stay yours: nothing is uploaded or shared.

Can I follow a PDF pattern and count rows in the same app?
Yes. Rowsy opens your PDF pattern, a ruler marks your line and a mini counter floats on top.
How do I track rows and pattern repeats at the same time?
In Rowsy, link a repeat counter to your row counter, and the repeat goes up by one every N rows.
