Point it at the city after dark, take the frame, and an on-device grader scores it on five axes — the way a darkroom printer would judge a print. FORGET AUTO. SHOOT MANUAL. The finder gives you real manual controls: set your ISO, dial in the shutter speed, watch the live histogram, and frame the shot with focus peaking. No filters, no magic — just the discipline of exposing for the dark. EVERY FRAME GETS A GRADE. Each photograph is scored on five axes — exposure, focus, composition, mood and story. The grader runs entirely on your device: it reads the light, measures the sharpness, and studies the composition. A "printer's note" then puts the verdict into words: what held up, what fell flat, and what to try next frame. YOUR ROLL, YOUR RANK. Frames collect into a contact sheet with edge numbers, like a roll of film coming back from the lab. Grade averages push you up the darkroom ladder — from Apprentice to Nightkeeper. Every tier asks for a better five-axis average, so the rank you wear is earned by frames, not hours. TONIGHT'S LIGHT, COMPUTED LIVE. The Today page works out sunset, the blue hour window, moon phase and moonlight for a city you name — all calculated on the device, no forecast service. Know when the light turns good, and be there with the camera ready. PRIVATE BY DESIGN. No account. No sign-in. No feed. Your photographs and grades stay on this device, and an optional anonymous cloud backup — tied to no name, email or phone number — can restore your roll on a new phone. The camera is the only permission the app ever asks for, and a privacy gate on first launch shows you the whole policy before the first frame.
