Your streak grows in a pot. Left of the year there's a button with a sprout and your days in a row. Tap it and a bush grows out of the pot: a leaf for every day you write, and a daisy, a tulip, a poppy and a sunflower bloom on days 3, 7, 14 and 30. Missing a day ruins nothing: the old streak stays beside it in pencil. The pot is alive. It cheers for every flower, blinks and gets up to mischief — and if you poke it, it says “Boooop!”. Pick its shape: round, classic, a tub or a vase. New faces for your moods. 15 lively faces instead of the old ones, each a blot of its own colour you read at a glance. They blink, hop, droop and fume, and the mood you pick answers right away. The widget has the same faces. The day's sheet now fills the page: the mood at the bottom, habits above it, and a tap on empty paper starts a note. The settings button on the year screen now shows sliders.

New: your month in one picture. When a month ends, a banner up top says “October is done” with how it went and a button to share it: the whole month as a 4:5 picture for your feed — each day as a doodle, a sketch, a photo or a mix of them, your favourite drawings, your best streak and your usual mood. Any month's recap is also in the menu under its name in the month view. A reminder that guards your streak: no reminder on a day you've already written. If you haven't, Boop tells you how many days in a row you've kept and whether someone might turn up in the margins today — and after a gap it calls you back gently. Also: before the plans, a table of what's free and what Boop Plus adds; “Draw it for me” with the crayon no longer closes the app.

New: habit statistics. Tap the chart button above the year to see your days as squares — over a month, three months or the whole year — with the share of your plan done, the rhythm of your week and its weak day, and your records. With Boop Plus: each habit's streaks and how it goes with your mood. Steps from Health count too. A crayon on the canvas: nine colours with a waxy grain, next to the pen and the eraser. The photo button is now “Autosketch” — a vase shows what the pen will draw and what the crayon will — the tools are labelled, and notes show what's where the first time. The year answers faster: the date and the trail under your finger appear after a quarter of a second, a short tap just opens the day. Also: save a sketch to Photos, clearer sketch placing, doodles on future days, and a few fixes.

New: crayon sketches from photos. Take a photo or pick one, tap “Draw it for me” → “In crayon”, and Boop turns it into a soft crayon drawing under your sketch. Move, zoom and turn the photo right on the canvas to pick what gets drawn. Sketches now take only as much room as their drawing, and crayon ones show up in the day's post, on month covers, in the list and in the widget. Steps: a new nudge at the halfway mark, and nudges no longer get lost while the phone is locked. Also: a What's New screen in Settings, and the daily reminder now comes on time in Kyiv, Amsterdam, Stockholm and 129 more time zones.

New: steps nudges. Walking towards your daily steps goal? Boop lets you know at three quarters of the way and once you're there. Switch them off in Settings if you'd rather walk in peace. Smoother days: swiping between days and typing no longer stutter, and the date glides over to the next one instead of jumping. The weather by the date now shows the day's low to high. Also: if the camera is off for Boop, it tells you where to turn it on, and Done in a sketch is now a clear green tick.

Boop is made for iPhone Duo. Folded, your diary fills the whole screen. Open it and your notebook lies open too: the year or the month on the left, the day on the right, the buttons tucked into the strip beside the clock. New: Share the day. From a day's + menu, turn it into a 4:5 poster for your feed, in one of five styles, with its photo, sketch, weather and steps. Also: steps from Health no longer take one of the three free habit places, the weather on the page is livelier (lightning, drifting clouds, windblown snow), and typing a number in the habits table works on iPad in landscape.

Boop is now on iPad. Lay your diary open like a notebook: the year or the month on the left, the day on the right. Settings, habit editing and sketching open in a card in the middle, and Boop works in Split View and Stage Manager. New on iPhone and iPad: the day's weather beside the date, and with Boop Plus it plays across the page. With Plus, your steps are matched to a real place, with a fact about it. A gentler start sets up your look step by step and walks you through your first day. And the day now tells you when your words are saved. Syncing between iPhone and iPad comes in the next update. Also: the purchase button stays in sight on the smallest iPhones, and a handful of small fixes.

What's new in 1.0.1: • Lock your diary with your own code and Face ID.
