Lonview – Remote Desktop

SSH Terminal & VNC Client

Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Free remote desktops and SSH terminals for iPhone and iPad. New: browse and edit server files over SFTP, and run Linux programs on a virtual screen. No subscription. Your desktop. Your terminal. Your network. Lonview brings VNC remote desktops, SSH terminals and useful network tools together on iPhone and iPad. Every feature is free. A WORKSPACE THAT ADAPTS Native sidebars, adaptive device cards and readable forms suit iPad and changing window sizes. Supported iPhone Duo layouts arrange the desktop, controls and trackpad around the display division. CONTROL YOUR DESKTOP Connect to compatible VNC servers on Mac, Windows and Linux. Choose direct touch or a relative trackpad, use visible left and right mouse buttons, zoom, and scroll remotely. Hide the controls for more room. Automatic reconnect and adjustable quality help when conditions change. TYPE THE KEYS YOU NEED A compact, horizontally scrolling row provides Tab, Escape, modifiers, arrows and function keys. A dedicated symbol keyboard puts @, brackets and slashes within reach. Automatic, Mac, Windows and Linux behavior adapts shortcuts to your remote computer, with per-device settings and Mac layout options. Hardware keyboards and mice support navigation, modifiers, clicks and scrolling. System shortcuts are available from a menu. COPY ACROSS DEVICES Sync text with compatible VNC clipboards while the desktop is open. Paste local text or copy a remote selection, with manual controls available. An optional verified SSH connection supports the logged-in Mac's text clipboard. Availability depends on the server. Remote terminals can copy through OSC 52; local paste uses a foreground control. KEEP SSH SESSIONS HANDY Organize devices and switch between open terminals. Use passwords or Ed25519, ECDSA and RSA keys. Import OpenSSH, supported PEM/PKCS#8 and PuTTY PPK v2/v3 keys from a file or paste them, including encrypted keys with a passphrase. Generate supported keys locally. Use an xterm-compatible terminal, bracketed paste, reusable snippets and modified navigation/function keys. Configure tmux to retain a remote shell across reconnects; iOS may suspend networking in the background. FILES OVER SFTP Browse server files beside the terminal. Upload, download, drag and drop, rename, set permissions, delete and edit text in place. The server needs SFTP (an OpenSSH default). OPEN LINUX APPLICATIONS Start xterm or another Linux app on an existing remote display, or on a hidden virtual screen over SSH (the server needs Xvfb, x11vnc and xauth) and view it here. No X11 server is included. Mac apps can be launched over SSH and viewed with Screen Sharing. NETWORK TOOLS, INCLUDED Discover Bonjour services and probe a reachable IPv4 range. Inspect open ports and hosts that answer closed-port probes. Measure TCP latency and jitter, resolve DNS addresses, calculate subnets, and run a bounded upload/download test to a chosen HTTPS test server. Read neighbour tables, MAC addresses, routes and listening services from an SSH router or host. Wake a known device using a unicast magic packet or broadcast from an SSH host on its LAN. Discovery cannot find every silent or isolated device. TCP latency is not ICMP ping. CONNECT FROM YOUR PORTAL Open VNC, SSH or Lonview links with literal addresses and ports. Saved profile links reuse device Keychain credentials. For Secomea, sign in and activate an external service in the portal, enter its public endpoint, then open it natively. Keep your saved LAN address separate. Portal credentials, licensing and externally accessible agents are required; an in-browser-only service stays in the portal. PRIVATE AND FREE No app account, advertising or tracking SDKs. Passwords and private keys stay in the device Keychain. An optional device authentication lock protects access. No trial timer, purchases or subscription. A reachable compatible server is required. This version does not supply a remote server, RDP, X11 forwarding or a hosted relay. Not every server or authentication method is supported. Use SSH, verified TLS or a trusted VPN when VNC is unencrypted. Lonview does not provide a VPN.

Files and a virtual screen for your SSH servers. • Files: open the new Files panel in any SSH terminal to browse the server over SFTP. Upload and download with the file picker or drag and drop, rename, change permissions, delete, and edit text files in place. Transfers run in the background with progress. • Virtual screen: run a Linux program on a hidden screen on your server and view it here over SSH (the server needs Xvfb, x11vnc and xauth). Everything stays free, with no account and no tracking.
