Notturno darkens every website you visit in Safari. There is nothing to turn on, no theme to pick and no settings to get lost in. Most dark mode tools treat every page the same: invert the colours, and hope. That is why they leave you with black text on a black background, photographs turned into flat grey rectangles, and brand colours flattened into mud. Notturno works differently. It reads each page first, decides what that particular page actually needs, and changes only what has to change. WHAT IT DOES • Works on every website, automatically. Nothing to configure, no list of supported sites. • Leaves good pages alone. If a site already has a dark mode worth using, Notturno steps aside and touches nothing. • Keeps photographs looking like photographs. Images are never inverted or desaturated. • Keeps colour that carries meaning. A price stays red. Stock stays green. A rating stays warm. • Keeps your reading comfortable. Text is held to WCAG AA contrast, so nothing ends up unreadable on a dark page. • One switch per site, and one switch for everywhere. Turn Notturno off for a single site, or off entirely, and it stays off. • Works on the pages that fight back. Some sites work very hard to stay light; Notturno deals with them, and puts things back if a page starts misbehaving. BUILT TO BE QUIET Notturno is not an inverter. It classifies the page it is looking at and then acts conservatively: wherever it is not sure, it changes less rather than more. If a page starts behaving badly, it switches itself off for that page instead of leaving you with something broken. PRIVACY Your pages stay on your iPhone or iPad. Notturno needs permission to read webpages because dark mode has to be applied to the page itself, but pages are processed locally and nothing is uploaded. There is no account, no server, and no browsing history leaving your device.
