Open the throttle on the runway in Bern, release from the tow above the Jura, circle in a thermal, land a Gämse G6 on a glacier. Tailwind is a flying game over the whole of Switzerland – with real terrain, real weather and a real flight model.
ALL OF SWITZERLAND
• The whole country as one continuous map – no separate regions
• Terrain from the swisstopo elevation model with aerial imagery, forests, buildings and place names
• 74 airfields: from Zurich, Geneva and Sion to grass strips and mountain landing sites such as Petersgrat and Monte Rosa
• All map data is inside the app – fly offline, only live weather needs the internet
10 AIRCRAFT
• Gliders Föhn 21, Thermik 15 and Firn 18 with water ballast, plus the Bise 25 motor glider
• Murmeli 18, Arve 17 and the Gämse G6 on skis for the glaciers
• The aerobatic Wirbel K33 and Bergdohle B7, and the Donner D58 jet
• Every aircraft has its own cockpit with the instruments of the original
FLIES LIKE THE REAL THING
• Flight physics with six degrees of freedom: stalls, spins, flaps, airbrakes, landing gear and ground effect
• Three assist levels – from easy (never stalls) to realistic with every control flown by hand
• Take off from the runway, on aerotow, on the winch or start in the air
• Thermals, ridge lift, lee waves and wind – in live weather from MET Norway and MeteoSwiss or with presets such as thermal day, Bise and Föhn
MODES AND POINTS
• Free flight, a tour around three peaks and landing practice
• Gliding tasks: free distance, out-and-return and triangle
• Total-energy vario, speed-to-fly, final glide computer and approach lights (PAPI)
• Earn points for distance, flight time and landings – and spend them on more aircraft in the hangar
CONTROLS
• Swipe on the Siri Remote to steer, hold the click and swipe for throttle – a game controller is recommended
Six airfields are free to take off from, with no time limit: Bern, Montricher, Schänis, Locarno, Engadin, Petersgrat. You can fly over and land anywhere in Switzerland. A one-time purchase unlocks all 74 airfields as starting points – no subscription, no ads.
Tailwind is a game, not a training device. Airfields, runways and weather are approximations – not for real flight preparation.
