Black Menu Bar (exclusively for macOS 27) adds a dark finish to the top of your desktop. Turn it on or off from one small menu, then choose how the band meets your wallpaper. It works across connected displays, including MacBook screens with a notch, and in both Light and Dark Mode.

CHOOSE YOUR LANGUAGE
Settings includes System language plus 20 supported languages across 22 selectable targets: English (UK), English (US), Cymraeg, Deutsch, Français, 日本語, Español, 简体中文, 繁體中文, Português (Brasil), 한국어, Italiano, Nederlands, Svenska, Norsk bokmål, Dansk, Polski, Türkçe, العربية, Русский, हिन्दी and Bahasa Indonesia.
Menus, Settings, wallpaper guidance, permission explanations and errors follow your choice. Arabic includes right-to-left layout. Choose Restart Now to apply a new language, or Later to keep using the current session.
PRIVATE AND LOCAL
No account, ads, analytics, subscriptions or cloud service. Your settings, wallpaper images, generated images and still copies stay on your Mac.
Screen Recording is requested only when you choose to make a still copy of a wallpaper that macOS does not expose as an editable image.
A NOTE ABOUT DYNAMIC WALLPAPERS
Dynamic, Aerial, system-colour and Photos shuffle wallpapers need an optional still copy. Black Menu Bar captures only the wallpaper window on each display — never app windows, other screen content, video or audio. The copy is static; it will not animate, change through the day or shuffle. To restore the original, choose it again in System Settings → Wallpaper.
Turning the effect off or quitting removes the black band. Ordinary photo wallpapers return to their original file. A captured wallpaper remains a still image until you select the original again.
