California, Texas, Florida, NY

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.

New: Texas, Florida and New York, beside California. Practice questions of ours from each state’s handbook, and a practice test for each state. Free, no ads, no account. Semaforo helps you prepare for the knowledge test, the written test for your first permit or driver’s license, in California, Texas, Florida and New York. Pick your state and study its own questions, free and unlimited. More states are on the way. No ads, no account. The app is in English and follows your iPhone’s language. OUR OWN QUESTIONS, FROM EACH STATE’S HANDBOOK We wrote our questions from each state’s driver handbook and traffic law, and each one cites its source. The app always says the questions are ours, never the test’s. • California: 570 questions in 26 chapters, from the California Driver’s Handbook and the Vehicle Code, 78 with the handbook’s own pictures, each with our explanation. • Texas: 588 questions on road signs and road rules, from the Texas Driver Handbook and the Transportation Code, 174 with a picture. • Florida: 571 questions, from the Florida Driver License Handbook and the Florida Statutes, 126 with a picture. • New York: 615 questions, from the New York State Driver’s Manual and the Vehicle and Traffic Law, 99 with a picture. Texas, Florida and New York are new. We checked every answer against the rule it cites, but their questions are not yet reviewed independently: the app says so under each question, and you can report a mistake right from it. Their explanations come later. A PRACTICE TEST FOR YOUR STATE • California: 36 questions, at most 6 wrong, no time limit. • Texas: 50 questions in two parts, road signs and road rules, with 70% right in each, no time limit. • Florida: 50 questions in 60 minutes, at most 10 wrong. • New York: 20 questions, 14 right to pass, with at least 2 of the 4 road sign questions, no time limit. At the end you see each mistake with the right answer. THE WHY OF EVERY ANSWER, IN CALIFORNIA After each California answer, a short explanation of ours, written from the handbook and the law. Chapter 1’s are free to try; the rest come with Semaforo Pro. REVIEW WHAT YOU FORGET With Semaforo Pro, the questions you are about to forget come back every day. Your mistakes and the questions you saved are free: a mistake leaves the list after two right answers in a row. GREEN MEANS READY Red, amber, green. The light turns green only when you would pass again and again. No easy greens. With Semaforo Pro it also tells you what to review to get there. FREE, AND SEMAFORO PRO Every question and every practice test, without limits, are free, and so are the traffic light, your mistakes and saved questions. No ads, no account. Your progress stays on your iPhone and, once your state’s questions are downloaded, the app works offline. Semaforo Pro opens our California explanations past chapter 1, smart review, what to review to get to green and the Quick quiz widget. It is an in-app purchase, three ways: for good, paid once and shared with your family; a 30-day pass that does not renew; or a free 3-day trial, once, that simply ends. No subscription. If you had Semaforo before Pro, everything stays open for you. The questions and explanations are written by Semaforo from each state’s handbook and law, cited by section, never reproduced. California’s pictures are the California Driver’s Handbook’s own, credited to the California Department of Motor Vehicles. In Texas, Florida and New York, the signs come from the Federal Highway Administration’s Standard Highway Signs, and the other pictures are our own drawings. Semaforo is an independent app. It is not made by any state or its driver licensing agency, such as the California DMV, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles or the New York State DMV, and is not affiliated with them. Its questions are not any state’s knowledge test’s.
