Truegauge: CPU, RAM & Battery
Phone health & system monitor
Free · In‑App Purchases
Get an alert when your phone runs hot, the battery runs low or storage fills up. Readings are logged in the background, about every 15 minutes at best. Local only.
Truegauge shows what your phone is doing right now: CPU load, memory, storage, network speed, data used, and battery, all in one dashboard.
Alerts and background readings. Turn on an alert and Truegauge sends a notification when the thermal level reaches Serious or Critical, when the battery drops below a level you pick, and, with Pro, when charging passes a level, free storage runs low or memory is under pressure. It also keeps a log of readings for the past 24 hours (7 days with Pro), so you can see when the phone ran hot and how far the battery fell. While the phone is plugged in and idle, it can take a reading every minute for a few minutes.
iOS does not let apps sample continuously in the background. Readings arrive about every 15 minutes at best, never in Low Power Mode and never with Background App Refresh off. Each reading shows when it was taken, and gaps are drawn as gaps. A Siri shortcut reads out a short report of the past day.
No fake temperature. No app can read your phone's real sensor temperature, so instead of making up a number, Truegauge shows the thermal level the system actually reports (Nominal, Fair, Serious, Critical) and how long your phone has spent at each one. Anything that has to be estimated, like charging watts or battery health, is labeled "Estimated" with a range and a one-line note on how it is calculated. On the desktop version, Truegauge reads real battery data from the hardware, including the battery's own temperature.
What's inside:
- Live dashboard: CPU, memory, storage, network speed, data used, and battery, with history charts
- 18 tools in one toolbox: ping, SSH, Telnet, QR code generator, password generator, decibel meter, compass, altimeter, flashlight, color and brightness test, and more
- Motion tracker: records a route with distance and speed, and keeps recording with the screen locked while a track is running
- Charging sessions: start a detection, see peak watts and energy used, and keep a history of every session
- A live readout on the Lock Screen, with a refresh rate you control and the option to hide it
- Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, including stackable ones
- Works with Apple Watch: the watch's own battery and storage, plus your phone's last reading on your wrist
- There is also a desktop version: a menu bar item, a floating panel that stays on top, and a full sidebar window
Free to use: the live dashboard, every reading, and the full refresh rate. Pro is a one-time purchase, with no subscription, and unlocks live readout extras, SSH, charging history, every widget, and the desktop floating panel.
Truegauge runs on your device. There's no account, no analytics, and no network connection except the one a tool you choose to run needs (ping, SSH, Telnet).
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Truegauge now keeps watch while you are not looking at it.
New in 1.1:
- Background readings. Truegauge logs a reading whenever iOS wakes it in the background, about every 15 minutes at best. It never runs in Low Power Mode or with Background App Refresh off, so gaps are shown as gaps. A new Past 24 hours screen charts thermal level and battery, and Pro adds a 7 day view.
- Alerts. Get a notification when the thermal level reaches Serious or Critical and when the battery drops below a level you choose. With Pro you can also be told when charging passes a level, when free storage runs low and when memory is under pressure. You turn each alert on yourself, and nothing asks for notification permission until you do.
- Charge watch. While your phone is plugged in and idle, Truegauge can take a reading every minute for a few minutes, so a charge shows up in the log.
- Day report. Ask Siri for your Truegauge day report and hear the number of readings, the time spent at Serious and the lowest battery level.
- Phone check-up. From 11 December to 10 January a card on Vitals offers a check-up for a new phone: battery, storage, charger, thermal level, memory and time since the last restart, each with a plain verdict and a line on what to do. Battery health is the figure you enter, because iOS does not share it with apps. Siri can run the check-up any time.
Truegauge still runs on your device, with no account and no analytics.
