The Alex & Bit Chronicles, written by Shawn Taylor, follow Alex, a curious kid, and Bit, a little robot full of questions, as they discover how technology really works. Meet the Machine explores artificial intelligence. Meet the Makers is all about robots and how things move. Meet the Guardians teaches kids how to stay safe online. Bit Labs is the game those books grew into, years in the making, so kids can step inside the stories and try every idea for themselves.
Help Alex and Bit build Bit Labs, a campus of six labs, by playing 14 activities with 510 levels for kids aged 8 to 12. Bit shows how each activity works before you start.
THE CODING LAB
Program Bit with command tiles, loops and functions, then hunt down the bugs and fix them.
THE ROBOTICS WORKSHOP
Wire real circuits, mesh gears and work out ratios, and design robots with sensors and motors to meet a brief.
THE AI LAB
Teach Bit to recognize things and see what happens when the data is unfair. Light up pretend neurons, and train Robo-Pup with treats the way real machines learn.
THE CYBER LAB
Forge strong passwords, spot the phishing message, guard the castle with layers of defense, and decide what is safe to share and who is asking.
THE DISCOVERY CENTER AND THE ADVENTURE PORTAL
Fact or Fiction, Word Match with words from the books, and three comic adventures with Alex, Bit, Walker, Runner, a troll and a phisher called Phish.
WONDER PARK
Finish all 30 levels of an activity and its trail opens in Wonder Park: five learning places with nine trails of ten new challenges, built on ideas from the books.
BUILD YOUR CAMPUS
Earn gears and materials, build each lab from blueprint to fully activated, decorate the courtyard, collect 70 Discovery Cards, follow 53 missions from Alex and earn 33 trophies.
PLAY IT TOGETHER
Bit Labs was made by a parent to be shared. Sit down with your child, take turns, and talk through why a password is strong or how a robot learns. Grown-ups can add their own inventor and play along. It is a good refresher for the whole family: these are skills everyone needs.
MADE FOR KIDS, KIND TO GROWN-UPS
- Everything can be earned by playing. Patient kids build the whole campus in a few weeks of short daily play.
- Up to four inventors on one device, each with their own name and avatar.
- A grown-ups' gate guards the shop and the settings, with a daily play-time limit and a switch to turn purchases off.
