TrueLoupe gives you an honest answer by measuring your piece the way a jeweler would, then checking it against real similar pieces sold and for sale. Every comparable comes with a link, so you can see the evidence for yourself. BUILT AT THE BENCH AND IN CODE TrueLoupe is designed at WTSgems by a silversmith and someone trained in AI engineering. The silversmith brings what matters at the workbench: how metal is weighed, how stones are measured, what hallmarks mean and what makes a piece sell. The engineer turns that know-how into a system that checks its own work. The result is an AI tool that thinks about jewelry the way a maker does. MOST AI APPRAISAL APPS GUESS FROM ONE PHOTO A single phone photo can't show true color, real size or weight, and those are what decide value. A blue stone under warm lamplight looks green. A 6 mm stone and an 8 mm stone look the same in a close-up. TrueLoupe fixes this with a few low-cost tools and a guided, step-by-step process. THE TOOLS, AND WHY THEY MATTER • 18% gray card: you tap it in the photo and TrueLoupe corrects the color of the whole image, so stones and metals are judged in true color, not your room's lighting. • Digital calipers: you measure the stone in millimeters. TrueLoupe calculates its weight from size, the stone's density and its cut, the way gemologists do. The AI is never allowed to guess a stone weight. • mm grid or cm scale card: set the piece in the corner of the photo so its real size can be read. Print one free from the app. • Pocket scale (0.01 g), recommended: weigh the piece so the metal content is based on grams, not guesswork. No kit yet? You can still continue. The estimate is simply less precise, and TrueLoupe tells you so. HOW TRUELOUPE KEEPS THE AI HONEST • Real comparables only: every similar piece sold and for sale comes from a live web search and links to the listing. The AI can pick and explain matches, but it can never write one. • Sourced prices: today's gold, silver and platinum prices, and stone prices per carat, are used only when they come with a source link and pass sanity checks. Otherwise TrueLoupe falls back to its own reference tables. • Your price stays out of it: what you paid or the asking price is entered only after the estimate, and never reaches the valuation, so it can't sway the result. • Hallmark aware: TrueLoupe notes whether a piece carries an assay office hallmark, only a maker's stamp such as 925, or nothing, and adjusts its confidence. • A confidence score with every result, and a clear breakdown of how the estimate was built. PLEASE NOTE TrueLoupe gives an unofficial estimate, not a certified appraisal. For insurance, legal or high-value decisions, have the piece examined in person by a qualified appraiser. Your photos are sent securely to our server and to our AI provider (Anthropic) to produce the estimate. Sign in with Apple is required so your credits stay safe, and you can delete your account at any time in the app.
