發 or 髮? "视频" is "影片" in Taiwan — 繁簡相通 (HanST) is the Simplified–Traditional Chinese companion built for users in Taiwan: it converts characters to the Taiwan standard, tells you how everyday things are said on both sides of the strait, and shows exactly what changed.
FOUR CONVERSION MODES, TAIWAN STANDARD
Simplified→Traditional (Taiwan), the same with cross-strait phrasing, Traditional→Simplified, and the same with Mainland phrasing — one tap to switch. Long text converts in a before-and-after view, ready to proofread, copy and share. Powered by bundled OpenCC dictionaries, with results as you type.
DIFFERENCE PROOFREADING, NOT JUST CONVERSION
Replacements are highlighted so you can see exactly what changed. Switch to a differences-only view for a faster review, then tap any changed term included in our phrasebook for its context, notes and examples. Share as plain text, a before-and-after image or a differences card; the Share Extension also shows a difference summary.
ONE CHARACTER, MANY FORMS
One Simplified character often maps to several Traditional ones: 发→發 (發現) / 髮 (頭髮), 面→面 (見面) / 麵 (拉麵). Every candidate comes with example words, and a rice-grid character card shows zhuyin, pinyin, radical and stroke count. Polyphonic characters are fully covered — see every reading at a glance (和 has six) — built for writing, teaching and learning.
A CROSS-STRAIT PHRASEBOOK, 934 SELF-BUILT ENTRIES
Seven categories — 3C tech, online shopping & logistics, drama & danmu, travel & transport, workplace, internet slang, and same-word-different-meaning traps — covering everyday differences like 软件/軟體, 充电宝/行動電源 and 土豆/馬鈴薯, each with context notes and example sentences. Shared expressions are marked as “used on both sides”, while trap words warn you when the same word means something different.
347 MAINLAND REGIONAL EXPRESSIONS
Local sayings from 8 regions — Shanghai, Beijing, Sichuan-Chongqing, Minnan, Guangdong, Xi'an, Dongbei and Fuzhou — so dramas, danmu and marketplace chats stop being guesswork.
DAILY WORD, FAVORITES REVIEW AND WIDGETS
Reveal one trap word each day, or flip through saved favorites: tap to reveal the answer, mark “still learning” to queue it again, or “got it” to move on. Small and medium daily widgets show the same pair and open the matching entry when tapped. Optional local reminders can be scheduled when you want them (off by default).
SNAP IT, LOOK IT UP
Point the camera or pick a photo: on-device OCR recognizes Simplified and Traditional characters, tap any character to look it up. Pinyin, zhuyin and radical lookup are built in too. Type-ahead suggestions, one-tap recent queries, related entries and shareable knowledge cards round out the flow. All recognition happens on your device — photos are never uploaded.
FULLY OFFLINE, PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no ads, no tracking, no data collection. History and favorites live only on your device, and reminders are scheduled locally too. Dark mode and adjustable font sizes included.
