Your spots and the next 48 hours on one screen: for each spot the verdict, the next good window, the forecast against the nearest live station, and the reason behind it. FOR EVERY WIND SPORT Kite, wing and foil, windsurf, surf, sail and paragliding are all first-class. Each sport brings its own wind range, and kite adds a size suggestion from your weight. Or choose "Just show me the wind": wind, gusts and storm warnings, with no verdicts. TRY IT FROM ANYWHERE Until you save a spot of your own, Sideshore opens on the Gorge demo: every screen with a bundled day in the Columbia River Gorge, under a banner. "Exit demo" takes you back to your own spots, and "Explore the Gorge demo" in More opens it again. A GO/NO YOU CAN READ Every hour gets GO, MARGINAL or NO, always with a one-line reason and the rules that decided it. The rules run in order and the first hard fail wins. Offshore wind, a storm in the window (lightning chance of 10% or more, or CAPE of 800 J/kg or more) or wind above your maximum is NO. Wind below your range is NO. Gusts at 1.5 times the mean wind or more, or models more than 5 knots apart, make it MARGINAL. Otherwise it's GO. No score, no hidden weighting. Station readings inform you; they never change the verdict. A missing value shows a dash and why, never a guess. MODELS THAT ARGUE IN THE OPEN Forecast models sit side by side with their spread always drawn, so you see when they disagree. The map shows the wind field with a playhead you can scrub or play; tap a spot to inspect it without leaving the map, and compare models as an overlay or side by side. LIVE STATIONS Raw readings from public weather stations, buoys and gauges, never interpolated, with distance to your spot and age always shown. ALERTS One sheet with every condition in view. Before you save, it shows how often the alert would have fired in the last 30 days. You hear about it the evening before at 20:00, then two hours ahead if the station confirms. Alerts are local notifications; the two-hour check runs when the system allows it. Offshore wind never triggers an alert. IPAD, IPHONE, MAC AND APPLE WATCH A desk on iPad and Mac, a stacked companion on iPhone. Widgets and the Apple Watch glance show the next window and the live station, nothing else. Light and dark, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver. WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM Weather data by Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0), with public sources: NOAA's National Weather Service, AviationWeather.gov, NDBC buoys, CO-OPS tides and currents, the National Hurricane Center and nowCOAST, USGS river gauges, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and radar from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet. Every value's source is one tap away. Lightning chance comes from the US and Central European models; elsewhere Sideshore uses a derived thunder index and labels it. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no ads, no tracking, no server. Your spots, profiles, alerts and notes stay on your device. Weather requests carry a spot's coordinates, never your location. NOT FOR NAVIGATION Sideshore is not for navigation. Forecasts and stations can be wrong and conditions change fast. You decide whether it's safe to ride.
