Automatic Connection Recovery
Internet interruptions shouldn't mean starting all over again.
Download Helper detects connection failures and automatically attempts to reconnect, continuing interrupted downloads from where they left off whenever the server supports resuming.
Automatic recovery can continue without a preset retry limit while the application remains running, helping downloads survive unstable or temporarily unavailable connections.
Pause, Resume, and Cancel
Need to temporarily stop a download? Click Pause, then Resume when you're ready.
Download Helper continues from the existing downloaded data whenever the server supports resuming.
Cancel a download at any time. Temporary files created for that download are safely cleaned up, without affecting previously completed files.
Clear Download Progress
Stay informed through an easy-to-understand interface displaying:

- Current transfer speed

SHA-256 Checksum Calculation and Verification
After a successful download, Download Helper automatically calculates the file's SHA-256 checksum.
The calculated checksum provides a digital fingerprint of the downloaded file and can be copied for reference.
For additional verification, enter a SHA-256 checksum obtained from a trusted file provider. Download Helper automatically compares the supplied checksum with the calculated result and clearly indicates whether they match.
If no reference checksum is supplied, the calculated value is displayed without incorrectly claiming that verification has taken place.
Optional Sound Notifications
Enable sound notifications to receive audible feedback when downloads and checksum checks finish.
A success chime indicates successful completion when no reference checksum was provided or when the supplied checksum matches.
A separate warning sound alerts you if checksum verification fails.
Safe File Handling
Download Helper protects your existing files throughout the download process.
Files are downloaded into temporary files, and the expected file size is checked against information supplied by the server before completion.
If a file with the same name already exists, Download Helper asks for confirmation before preparing a replacement. The existing completed file remains protected until the new download succeeds.
If an incomplete download is found after restarting the application, Download Helper offers to discard the previous attempt and start fresh. Nothing is discarded without confirmation.
