JamSlate: Timecode by Camera

Point, read, jam. No cables.

$5.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Jam timecode by pointing your phone at your camera's timecode display. No sync box, no cables. Then slate every take with big, readable timecode, a flash and a clap. JamSlate is a digital slate that syncs to your camera's timecode just by looking at it. Point your iPhone at the timecode on your camera's screen, viewfinder or monitor. JamSlate reads it, locks on in seconds and keeps running in step with it. No cables, no Bluetooth sync box, no extra gear. JAM BY CAMERA • Fit the camera's timecode inside the box and hold steady. JamSlate locks on and jams automatically. • Accurate to within a few milliseconds when it locks. • Auto mode works out the exact frame rate, including 23.976 vs 24 and 29.97 vs 30. • Supports 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 (drop and non-drop), 30, 50, 59.94 and 60 fps. • Monitor delay setting for viewfinders and monitors that show timecode a frame or two late. STAYS IN SYNC • Jam again later and JamSlate measures how your phone's clock and the camera's differ, then corrects for it. • Check Against Camera tells you how far off the slate is, without re-jamming. • Keeps the jam when the phone locks or you switch apps. • Reminds you when it's time to re-jam. • Warns you if the camera's timecode jumps, such as a camera left in Rec Run. A REAL SLATE • Production, director, camera, reel, scene, take, date and frame rate, laid out like a classic slate. • Huge running timecode you can read from across the set. • CLAP flashes the slate and plays a sharp clack, so the clap is easy to find by eye and by ear in the edit. • Takes advance automatically after each clap. • Clap log with timecode for every take, shareable as a spreadsheet (CSV). Works on iPhone and iPad. Everything stays on your device: no account, no tracking, no internet needed. Tip: for jamming, set your camera's timecode to Free Run.

Reads more timecode displays: red, green, yellow and other colored digits, dim LED displays, and timecode over video. Pinch to zoom or tap 1×/2×/4× to frame small or distant timecode. Tap to focus, with exposure set for the digits so bright monitors don't wash them out.
