Answer out loud or write your essay, and get an estimated band in seconds with the exact words that cost you marks. Your first marked answer is free.
Bandwise is speaking and writing practice for IELTS. Answer the way the test asks, out loud or on the clock, and an AI examiner marks your answer in seconds against the public band descriptors: an estimated band, a score for each criterion, and the exact words that cost you marks.
Speaking and writing are the two parts of the test you improve only by doing them and being told what to change. Whatever you need the band for (university, work, nursing or medical registration, or a visa for the UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand), every answer comes back marked.
SPEAKING
• All three parts: Part 1 questions on 33 everyday topics, the cue card (one minute to prepare, up to two to speak) and the Part 3 discussion.
• A cue card for each day, or pick any of 40, with your last band on the ones you've answered.
• A full mock speaking test, about 13 minutes, with one overall estimate.
• Pronunciation is judged from your voice, not guessed from text.
• Hear your own answer at a band higher, and keep its best phrases to borrow.
WRITING
• Task 2 essays with a 40-minute clock and a live word count: today's question, or any of 40 across the five essay types.
• Task 1: 20 Academic charts, tables and processes, and 16 General Training letters.
• One paragraph of yours rewritten a band up, so you can see the difference.
AFTER EVERY ANSWER
• An estimated band and a score for each of the four criteria.
• Your own words back, with the phrases that cost you marks highlighted.
• Every mistake struck through in red: what you said, a better version, and why.
• One thing to practice next.
YOUR PLAN AND PROGRESS
• A week of practice set out from your test date, with an optional daily reminder.
• Your fixes from every answer in one place, to review until they stick.
• Your estimated band over time for each skill, against your target.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account. Your answers, scores and recordings stay on your phone.
• Recordings and essays are sent for marking and are not kept on our servers.
Every band in Bandwise is an estimate from practice, not an official IELTS score. Bandwise is not affiliated with or endorsed by the British Council, IDP or Cambridge University Press & Assessment. IELTS is a registered trademark of its owners.

A new design that is calmer and easier to read, and a natural recorded examiner voice. Questions stay on screen while you answer, and there are many small fixes.
