A hunting map for Colorado: units, land ownership, roads, water, and contours, your own pins and paths, and maps saved for ground with no signal.
FilledTag is a hunting map for Colorado that keeps working where there is no signal, and the phone companion to FilledTag hunt plans.
THE MAP
- Colorado hunting units with their numbers, and land tinted by who manages it.
- Forest roads and trails, streams and lakes, contour lines with heights, slope, and what grows there by kind: dark timber, aspen, oak brush, sagebrush.
- Past wildfires, state wildlife areas, walk-in access, and where Colorado Parks and Wildlife maps each kind of big and small game as living.
- Press and hold any spot for its unit, its elevation, who manages it and the county's parcel record.
- Search for a town, a street, a unit number or coordinates.
- Elk, deer and antelope hunt areas for Wyoming.
YOUR PINS AND PATHS
- Mark a spot with one of more than 60 kinds of pin: glassing spot, tree stand, wallow, rub, water, gate, trailhead, camp and more. Name it, colour it, add a note, move it.
- Join two points and find a walking path over the ground between them, with the distance, the climb, a profile of the ground and the time on foot. Choose how steep you will walk.
- Share a pin with a hunting partner, or text its coordinates to anyone.
- Sign in and your pins are the same on your other devices.
NO SIGNAL
- Save the ground you will hunt before you leave service: the topo map, an aerial photo, land ownership, water, forest roads and contour lines.
- Your pins, your tracks and the hunting unit lines are always on the phone.
TRACKS
- Record your walk, with the phone locked in your pocket. See how far you have gone and send the track to another map app as a GPX file.
- Recording runs only while you have started one, and stops by itself after 12 hours.
WIND
- The National Weather Service forecast for the middle of the map: wind, temperature and sky for the hours ahead.
YOUR HUNT PLAN
- If you have a FilledTag hunt plan, sign in with the address it was sent to and it saves itself to the phone: where to park, camp and sit, the routes between them, how far each is from where you stand and when to leave camp.
- A sample plan is included so you can see how one looks.
WHAT IT IS NOT
The map shows public records, and records can be wrong or out of date. It does not show seasonal closures. A path is worked out from the shape of the ground only. Check the land, the access and the regulations yourself before you hunt, and trust the ground over the map.
Your position and your recorded tracks stay on your phone.
