ColdShot is a native Mac app for screenshots and GIF recording. It runs directly on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, without Rosetta. Select an area, add your annotations, and copy or save the result. Everything starts from your menu bar or a keyboard shortcut.
- Capture precisely: move and resize your selection, check its pixel dimensions, and use the optional magnifier for small details. Works across multiple displays.
- Show it in motion: record a selected area as an animated GIF, up to 30 seconds long. Useful for quick demos, bug reports, and instructions.
- Make your point: draw with a pen, lines, arrows, rectangles, ellipses, and a highlighter. Add text and numbered steps to explain a process.
- Hide private details: blur or pixelate selected parts of a screenshot before copying or saving it. Choose the effect and its strength.
- Keep a reference in view: pin a capture above other windows, then move, resize, or adjust its opacity while you work.
- Pick a color: sample a pixel and copy its HEX or RGB value.
- Copy text: select an area and press Shift-Command-C to extract its text with on-device recognition.
- Save and reuse: copy to the clipboard, save screenshots as PNG, or drag a capture from its notification into another app. Revisit your last 10 captures from the menu bar.
- Make it yours: customize the capture shortcut, choose a save folder, and optionally launch at login.
Screen captures, GIF creation, and text recognition are processed locally on your Mac. No account is required.
