Your ship’s log, kept for you. Knotbook records track, speed, weather and engine time automatically, even offline, and turns every passage into sea time you can prove. Knotbook keeps your ship’s log for you. Start a voyage, or simply cast off, and Knotbook records your track, course, speed and weather in the background, with no signal needed. When you’re back, every passage is a clean logbook and part of your record of sea miles. AN AUTOMATIC LOG • Starts the voyage when the boat gets moving and logs the departure • Writes an entry every hour and after every course change: position, course, speed, barometer and weather • Records your track offline, in the background, with the screen off • Notices when you stop and asks “anchored or arrived?” • Low-power GPS mode while you’re at anchor or waiting to leave ONE TAP FOR EVERYTHING ELSE Reef, sail change, engine on/off, anchored, moored, watch change or a quick note: one tap and it’s in the log with time and position. Set wind force, sea state and visibility yourself when you know better than the forecast. WEATHER, EVEN OFFLINE Download the forecast before you leave and Knotbook keeps it on board, logging it at departure. The phone’s barometer adds the pressure trend to every entry. CONNECTS TO YOUR BOAT Join the boat’s WiFi and Knotbook finds your instruments: NMEA 0183 gateways and Signal K servers. Wind, depth and the boat’s own GPS go into the log, and engine on/off is logged automatically from the engine RPM, with engine hours. YOUR SEA TIME, READY FOR YOUR NEXT LICENCE Every crew member gets their own record: days on board, days as skipper, miles, night hours on watch and non-stop passages. Knotbook checks your progress against the RYA Yachtmaster Coastal and Offshore prerequisites and exports a record of seagoing experience as a PDF to go with your application. A LOG YOU CAN TRUST • The skipper signs off each voyage, which locks it; later changes show up • Every edit is kept in an audit trail and amended entries are marked • Crew who sailed on a voyage can’t be deleted, so nobody loses their sea time AFTER THE VOYAGE See distance, time under sail and engine, night hours and time at anchor, with your track on a map.
