Ghost Translate
Live Camera Translation
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Point your camera at printed text and see on-device translations fitted to the scene. Freeze to compare the original, then save useful phrases as text.
Read the world. In your language.
Point your iPhone camera at a printed menu, sign, label or notice. Ghost Translate recognizes text and places a translation near the original when it can do so reliably. Keep the camera open as you move; no photo-taking is required for the live view.
DESIGNED FOR IPHONE DUO
The interface adapts to iPhone Duo's compact outer display and larger inner display.
SEE THE ORIGINAL
Freeze a frame to inspect numbered text regions and compare the original with translation cards. Open Document for larger, adjustable reading when a small overlay is not enough. Translation can be inaccurate; check the original for anything important.
SAVE WHAT MATTERS
Save translated phrases as text, organize them in collections, and review flashcards. A paired Apple Watch can show saved phrases and speak the original text. The Watch does not provide camera translation.
CHOOSE YOUR PAIRS
Select Apple-supported on-device language pairs. Available directions and OCR support vary by device, and some models must be downloaded before use. The free plan includes two selected pairs and 100 distinct successful translations per day. Optional Ghost Pro removes those limits for eligible on-device pairs. Choose a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase of the same on-device Pro features. Lifetime does not cancel an existing subscription.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Camera frames and recognized text are processed on your iPhone, not sent to a Ghost translation server. Saved phrases are stored locally. Optional currency conversion fetches dated exchange rates using currency codes, without sending the camera image or recognized text.
Requires iOS 18 or later. Camera permission is needed for live translation. A network connection may be needed to download Apple language models or fetch exchange rates. Translation quality depends on the source text, language direction, lighting and available models.
