Black Menu Bar turns your MacBook's menu bar solid black, so the camera notch blends into the bezel and your eyes stop going to it. Your wallpaper is never touched, there are no permissions to grant, and it works on macOS 27. Open the app and the notch is gone. Your menus, menu bar icons and clock stay where they are, in white on black. YOUR WALLPAPER STAYS UNTOUCHED Many notch hiders paint a black strip into a copy of your wallpaper. Black Menu Bar never touches your wallpaper. It places a black bar behind the menu bar instead, so: • Dynamic and Aerial wallpapers keep working • Changing your wallpaper never undoes the black bar • Turning it off is instant, and there is nothing to restore • It works on every Space, in Light and Dark Mode EVERYTHING IN ONE SMALL MENU Click the Black Menu Bar icon in the menu bar: • Black Menu Bar: turn the black bar on or off. • Round Corners: round the corners of the screen just below the bar. Choose Small, Medium or Large to match your windows. • MacBook Screen Only: keep the black bar on your MacBook's screen and leave external displays as they are, or turn it off to make the menu bar black on every display. • Start at Login: start Black Menu Bar when you log in. Off by default. • Hide Menubar Icon: keep your menu bar completely clean. To bring the icon back, open Black Menu Bar again from your Applications folder while it is running. WHY NOT JUST… • Use a black wallpaper? With Black Menu Bar you keep your own wallpaper, including dynamic and Aerial ones. • Turn on Reduce Transparency? It changes the look of all of macOS, and in Light Mode the menu bar turns grey, not black. • Pick a resolution that sits below the camera? You give up part of your screen. PRIVATE AND LIGHT • No permissions to grant: no screen recording, no accessibility access, no access to your files • No network access, no analytics, no data collected • No Dock icon: it lives in your menu bar • Sandboxed GOOD TO KNOW • Black Menu Bar changes how the notch area looks. It does not move menu bar icons that macOS places behind the notch. • On a Mac without a built-in display, turn off MacBook Screen Only to get a black menu bar on your external displays.
