Read a whole book with your fingers. TypingKit is typing practice on writing worth reading: seventeen classics from Project Gutenberg typed chapter by chapter, a library of passages to type again and again, a typing test, and any EPUB of your own.
NATIVE, DOWN TO THE LETTER
The typing area is a native Mac text view. The letter you type is drawn about two milliseconds after the key, where a browser takes thirty to fifty. If you have ever felt a web typing site lag behind your fingers, this is the difference.
WHOLE BOOKS, IN SITTINGS
Pride and Prejudice, Moby-Dick, Alice, Sherlock Holmes, The Great Gatsby and twelve more. The clock only runs while your fingers move: stop to read ahead, think, or answer the door, and nothing is counted against you. Your place is kept to the letter, so a sixty-chapter novel is something you do over weeks in short sittings.
A REVIEW FOR EVERY CHAPTER
At the end of each chapter: words, typing time, speed, accuracy, and the moves between keys that slowed you down, measured against your own other moves of the same kind. Come back to any chapter's review from the book's page.
YOUR OWN BOOKS
Import any EPUB without DRM and type it the same way, chapter by chapter, with your place kept. Its text stays on your Mac.
A LIBRARY OF PASSAGES
Famous openings, everyday moments, speeches, philosophy and poems, short enough to type again and again. Race the ghost of your best run, and watch any recent run again, key by key.
A TYPING TEST
15 seconds to 2 minutes on the 200 or 1,000 most common English words, scored the way typing sites score it, with the moves that cost you the most time.
COUNTED THE HONEST WAY
Speed counts only words typed right. Accuracy counts every key, a fixed mistake included.
