Two things in one app, all on your iPhone:
- Subtitles: the audio playing on your iPhone becomes bilingual subtitles floating above the screen. Protected content, such as some streaming series, and apps that block audio capture have no subtitles
- Voice Notes (new): record a meeting, class or conversation, read it sentence by sentence with its translation, and play it back from any sentence
NEW IN VOICE NOTES
- Tap a sentence to hear it again; the sentence being heard is highlighted
- Speed from 0.75 to 2x, and Play Starred Only
- Star what matters, even while recording
- Summary: the key points of a note, translated into the language you choose (Apple Intelligence; may contain errors)
- Correct recognition errors and fillers (Apple Intelligence), or remove fillers on other iPhones
- Study mode: hide the translation, recall it, then check; starred only if you like
- Conversation mode: lay the iPhone between two people; each taps their own side to speak
- Search your notes, also from the iPhone's search; start from Siri, Control Center or a widget
- Share as text or Markdown, or only the starred sentences
HOW THE AI WORKS
- Speech recognition and translation use the AI models Apple builds into iOS and run on your iPhone
- Neither needs Apple Intelligence. Where it is on, iOS may use it for translation; the optional refinement, note correction and summaries need it, and not every iPhone supports it. Without it, subtitles, voice notes and translation still work
- No third-party AI service; no chat, writing or image-generation feature

1. Choose the source language and the translation language
2. Tap Start Capture and choose the entire screen in the system sheet
3. Switch to your video or podcast and the subtitles float on top
EASY TO TRY
- No sign-up, no login, no account
- Free to try as often as you like: each capture, voice note or Conversation turn runs 3 minutes (only time with detected sound counts), then an Upgrade button appears
- No payment details are asked before you choose a plan
PRIVACY
- Recognition and translation happen on your iPhone; audio and text are not uploaded by the app. No account, no cloud sync
- Voice notes keep their recording on this iPhone by default; turn off Keep Recordings to keep only text, or delete all recordings at any time
- Audio from other apps is never saved. No ads, no tracking
GOOD TO KNOW
- Requires iOS 27 or later
- iOS treats capturing other apps' audio as screen recording, so you choose the entire screen; the app uses only the sound
- A language's models are downloaded the first time it is used
- Subtitles and notes come from live recognition and translation and may contain errors; verify anything important. Not for medical, legal, safety or emergency use
- Floating subtitles use the system Picture in Picture window; iOS controls its position and size
- Before recording or capturing other people's speech, check whether local law requires their consent
- The app is not affiliated with any artist, agency, platform or app
SUBSCRIPTION DETAILS
CapPal Pro is an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly). A one-time purchase does not renew and has no time limit while the app is offered. Purchases can be restored on the upgrade screen or in Settings › Plan.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase
- The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings after purchase
